Mike Tomlin always likes to tell the anecdote about Stefan Logan running his way onto the team in the final preseason game. I'm not sure who has a realistic chance to do something like that Thursday. Maybe Ke'Shawn Williams if he houses a punt? Max Hurleman if he makes a bunch of plays in all phases?

With all the recurring soft tissue injuries should the strength and conditioning staff be relaced?  It was a problem last year too.

I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert on strength and conditioning coaching, but if they weren't already on the hot seat after the Russell Wilson calf snafu last year, I'd be surprised.

Good morning BB Is thinking Roman Wilson can be the Steelers #2 receiver fool's gold??  I think he has potential, however, if the Steelers are in it to win it this season, do they need someone with more of a pedigree, like Amari Cooper??
Brian Batko
11:02
Wouldn't call it fool's gold. Not after what he's shown in the first two preseason games. Making those plays actually puts some weight behind the words of people like Arthur Smith and Omar Khan when they praise Wilson.

hey Brian, it sure looked like the offense picked up its pace and rhythm when Skyler took over.  I realize he's a back up for a reason and has been for awhile, but is there any possibility he unseats Mason for number 2?
Brian Batko
11:03
Hey hey hey ... it's Skylar.

Do you know if players going into the last year of their rookie deal and playing for a 2nd contract and life changing generational money invest in ex coaches or other personal trainers in the off-season or is this something that their agents take care of?
Brian Batko
11:05
Of course they do. I don't know exactly how the pie is sliced up in terms of paying those personal coaches, but most NFL guys have a private trainer to some extent.

Hi Brian,   Who are you seeing that is your biggest surprise in camp so far?
Brian Batko
11:06
Max Hurleman. Not predicting he'll make the team, but I wouldn't have been surprised if he was cut in the first week. That tends to happen to undrafted tryout rookies. And yet, here he is, pushing for more reps - not less.

Will the Steelers scoop up a WR2 (or any other significant needs) after the first game so as not to guarantee his salary?
Brian Batko
11:07
They'll stay on top of the cuts around the league to see if they can improve the roster, I'm sure. But I don't see them weakening their 2026 draft capital, a decision made even easier by Roman Wilson's relative emergence.

Good morning Brian. Do you know if the Steelers were interested in signing Isaiah Bond?
Brian Batko
11:08
I doubt it. The last thing their receiving corps needs is another sub-6 foot speedster, particularly one that would bring that kind of bad publicity.

Brian, on paper the Steelers roster looks pretty good. They have had GREAT rosters in years past and have not been able to win a single playoff game due to poor coaching. How will this year be any different?
Brian Batko
11:09
Who says it will be? Not me. I'll probably put my final prediction down as 10-7.

Brian…I’m a little curious about the younger Danny Rooney and his involvement w the organization since he’s the next in line. I feel like we never see him and Art II always appears to be alone at the games. Do you see Danny at games, practices, training camp? Does he interact with players and coaches? Does he EVER interact with media?
Brian Batko
11:12
Yes, I see him around quite a bit. He was chatting with Troy Polamalu one day at practice. I don't know how much he interacts with players and coaches, but he was very involved with the Ireland game and media/marketing/promotion surrounding that.

Brian, who's your choice for RB4?
Brian Batko
11:13
I'm probably not gonna predict that they keep four running backs.

I was impressed with the way Logan Lee stepped up as the long snapper in the Tampa game.  How would you rate his performance on defense to date?  Thanks Brian.
Brian Batko
11:14
To be honest, I haven't noticed him much. I think Isaiahh Loudermilk is a better player at this stage, but obviously Logan Lee is younger and might have more upside.

Love your chats BB. Impressed that Logan Lee could step in and handle the long snapping duties. If Kuntz is hurt (sounds like it isn’t serious) doesn’t it make sense that a roster spot isn’t used for just a snapper and could be used to keep an additional depth player somewhere else?
Brian Batko
11:15
That's an interesting big-picture NFL evolution idea, but obviously at some point coaches decided that the specialization of that position is worth the roster spot. Could it swing back the other way eventually? Sure, it's possible. Will Logan Lee be the man to do it? I hope so!
OK friends, I've got to put a bow on this one and get ready for Steelers coordinator availability. Talk to you soon.
