They did last year, Steve Rock.

We know the big problem now is the O-line and we'll get the standard "We just have to play better" player speak, but are they even capable of playing better? Os it a talent thing or a scheming thing - which is it more of? They better keep all 4 QB's as they are going to get them killed throughout the year.

I think it's mostly a talent thing. New OL coach, so if it's technique-related, there's definitely been no quick fix. The Steelers had a nice run of hitting on late-round or even undrafted O-linemen, but all good things come to an end.

Good Morning Brian. There is a lot to unpack after the Jaguars game.  Have you revised your win total for the season?  Assuming Trubisky is the starting QB for the season, how many games does he start & what would necessitate Trubisky being benched in favor of Kenny this season?

Nah, because for as much as we've learned since camp began, I don't know that there have been any grand revelations. I came into it thinking the D would be good and the O would be up-and-down. So I'll stand by my 8-8-1 call. As for Trubisky, I'll say they stick with him through Week 12. Pickett gets his first start in a low-stress, low-press 1 p.m. kickoff at Atlanta.

Thanks for the chats Brian.  The working assumption is that Rudolph gets traded for a late round pick at some point in the next few weeks.  He and Trubisky have proven to be very similar QB's through training camp with some stats saying that Rudolph is possibly better.  If the week one starter is only a placeholder waiting for Pickett to start midseason why is there no talk of trading Trubisky who likely has a much higher trade value due to his experience? Thoughts?

I'd say their quality of play has been similar but they aren't similar QBs. Trubisky is significantly more mobile and a better fit for the offense/philosophy here. And as I alluded to earlier, the optics of trading a dude you signed as your big-ticket free agent in March would be terrible. Yes, it's a business, but the Steelers are dealing with people when it comes to all this. They aren't gonna burn him like that.

Are we SURE that Kendrick Green used to play guard? He's even worse there than at center. Would he even make the team if he was an UDFA? Crossing my fingers that Kevin Dotson can stay healthy.

It's been a rough go for Green. But let's keep in mind that it's been two games, two exhibitions getting re-acclimated to his college position. They had their reasons for drafting him based on his Big Ten resume/film, so I don't think they're just gonna pull the plug this soon.

Brian, Pro Bow LT Eric Fisher is still available--he's only 31, played in 15 games last season forthe Colts and could likely be signed for 2 years and $20M. What's not to like here for the Steelers?
Brian Batko

Probably his age and the Colts moving on from him when they're in win-now mode with Matt Ryan at QB. But sure, sometimes other teams are wrong about their own guys and it's worth a shot.

Hey Brian, just noticed the beard.  I like it!

Haha - I've had a beard for basically every day of the last five years, so it was about time for my P-G photo to reflect that. But thank you.

Why not move Chucks to LT and start Haeg at RT? Moore has looked terrible period.

It's getting late in the game for that, but not an awful idea. I just look at the calendar, see Aug. 22 and think the Steelers aren't gonna go down that road at this point.
OK folks, that concludes today's Steelers Offensive Line chat. Thanks for all the great questions and sorry if I couldn't get to yours. Heading to the South Side later today for practice and interviews.
