They seem to be really into signing vets this offseason, so if they do make any moves, maybe it's another experienced O-lineman. To be honest, though, I get the vibe they felt quite comfortable with their 90-man roster, which trickles down to feeling pretty comfortable setting your 53.

Brian, If Trice survives the cut, how much longer are the Steelers going to keep kicking the tires on him? He's not Mel Blount.
Brian Batko

It's unfortunate but  his availability has just been such a knock against him. At some point, teams have to move on from someone who can't stay healthy. The same way they'll believe you if you keep showing up and making plays, they'll have to believe you if you're always banged up.

Hello Brian. Much appreciation for your work and taking the time to do these chats. I have read what I have read but seeking insight as to the running game. I’m guessing it is not merely a matter of Harris not being with us, and to my layman eyes I thought Warren was almost if not just as capable. I know it is more than just the RB that makes  a good run game. Is it more the OL, WR blocking, what seems to be the issue?

We still need to see it from this OL. Because while I do like Jaylen Warren's knack for making that first guy miss, he's probably not a game-changing player who can elevate a run game by himself, such as Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey in his prime. And let's not ignore the play-calling aspect of it, as well. You need to have an OC with a good feel for when and how to dial it up.

What are the rules for practice squad eligibility?
Brian Batko

You can have up to 6 veterans with any amount of NFL experience, if I'm not mistaken. The others have to be less than three accrued seasons.

Hi Brian thanks for the chats. Long time fan of the Steelers and the PPG. Looking at history- Chuck Noll told his first campers essentially they were not good enough and most would be gone.   Do you think that is the case with our roster the past few years?
Brian Batko
10:50
Yeah, you could say there's been a purging of sorts. Whether that was a result of rough fits, bad evaluation in drafts or bad development, quite a few picks just did not pan out.

Brian, once again we (steeler fans) are at the beginning of yet another season. The early optimistic atmosphere is almost laughable. This occurs every year and in most years the Steelers either lose to inferior teams or lose in the playoffs. Brian can you possible give Steeler fans 2 reasons, other than Tomlin and Khan, why our optimism will be rewarded this season with a
playoff victory

Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf. If those two are the ones who can turn what's often been an inconsistent, if not moribund, offense in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era, then there's reason for hope.

OK folks I've gotta dip out a little early to get down to the South Side. Thanks for chatting with me and good luck with your final roster projections. You will be graded on accuracy and spelling!
