Yeah, I still can't believe it. After the fiasco last week, wouldn't you do literally anything other than that? Like, I think fans would've been more happy with a hail mary thrown 50 yards over the deepest receiver's head than another dumpoff to Harris. Yikes.

Najee is the only bright spot in the Steelers future.  Build an O-line and get the defense some secondary help next year.  This is a failure of draft picks and bad luck.  Artiie Burns, Terrell Edmunds were reaches.  Shazier getting hurt , dupree leaving.  Go back as far as Jarivs Jones too.  You have to hit on your #1's.  Had to waste pick Bush at #1 and move up and relinquesh more picks..  They were blindsided by Decastro injury too.

That's a pretty good synopsis of why this team hasn't won a playoff game in five years. And why the outlook, at least in the immediate future, isn't very rosy. But I do think if you can figure out the QB position, having horses like Watt, Cam Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick on defense gives you a fighting chance.

Hi BB...not that it matters, but on Harvin's wonderful 20 yard punt, doesn't it look like he got hit? Thought it could be roughing the punter. We got no replay and no discussion of the possibility.

I think anyone who would've paid attention to the replay or discussed the possibility was still stupefied at seeing a 20-yard punt.

The Steelers made a massive mistake bringing back Ben. Steelers are falling behind the league in offensive talent (particularly at QB) and scheme - the league is built on explosive plays, and the Steelers still play possession offense. Does the team seriously think they can compete with Ben? Is there any chance they switch to Mason?

Was texting with a friend of mine this morning and he pointed out that often times Ben isn't even going through his progressions at this point, just immediately checking it down. I wonder if he's just so confounded by his lack of accuracy downfield that he's trying too hard to move the ball with quick game throws. Plus, there's zero chance of being able to scramble and extend plays. It's why I keep coming back to this, above all else (all else being Canada, the O-line, the wideouts): It's a Ben problem.

Did Haeg (#71) play well as Okorafor"s replacement?

11:53
Hard to say unless I go back and rewatch with an eye specifically on him, but in real time, I thought he held up OK. They were actually getting some push on the ground on the opening drive, and I realized I forgot what that looks like.

Two questions, one macro and one micro: 1) what do we do to try to get this back on track? and 2) did we keep the wrong punter?
Brian Batko

1) Wait it out? 2) Looks like it. Jordan Berry appears to be crushing the ball for the Vikings. But Harvin is a rookie, after all, trying to adjust to doing the same job in a different league. Not jumping ship on him just yet.

Do you think the Steelers make a run at Mitch Trubisky next offseason?  We have seen that the poor QB play in Chicago is directly connected to Matt Nagy and his inability (at least up until yesterday) to design his offense around the talent he has.  Trubisky is getting excellent tutelage up in Buffalo and getting to watch Josh Allen this season, then he is a free agent.  What do you think?

Interesting idea. With so many good-to-great pieces already in place on this defense, transitioning to a QB with NFL experience might be more fruitful than turning it over to a rookie.

If they are 2-7 or something like that, is there any chance they would trade Watt and/or Fitzpatrick to stock pile some draft picks? Hard to see how two giant contracts like that will make sense when help is needed in so many other areas.

OK, I think that's my cue that we're done here. Y'all are talking crazy now. Good session, though. We'll do it again next Monday, same time, but I'll be back in Pittsburgh. At least we have a good Monday Night Football game to watch this evening. Have a nice week, friends
