I believe Tomlin is a good motivator, but looking at it realistically, he could not win with HOF Qb, top 3 wideout and top 3 rb.  What is to show he can win now?  The coaching is lacking, where is the Tomlin coaching tree?  You decide to get rid of Dick Lebeau and replace him with his understudy, so what did you expect to be different?  Same for O coordinator.  They are out coached plain and simple.

There needs to be some change there. I'm assuming Canada will be gone after this season, barring a drastic improvement, and from there Mike Tomlin needs to tap into a base of young, up-and-coming candidates with pro experience who need a first or second chance coordinating an NFL offense.  Right now Art Rooney II has more of an ownership tree than Tomlin has a coaching tree.

Hi Brian-  Two questions as follows. 1. Percent probability Canada gets the axe before season ends?  2. Are the WRs unable to create splash plays because of unimaginative play calling or because of average skill level with exception of 14 who has limited route tree?

1. I'm gonna go 75% on that one, Yates. 2. More so the former. We know George Pickens is a freak of nature. We know Diontae Johnson gets open all the time. Claypool has some deficiencies he needs to work on, but for the most part, I'm looking at a struggle for Canada to maximize the personnel he has.

As I witness the progerssion of Kenny Pickett and I have a little hope.  Not a lot.  My biggest fear is that we are witnessing another 'Parade of Fools' at Quarterback.  Remember how many 'saviors' we went through between Bradshaw and Ben?

OK friends, that's my cue to log off. Gotta catch a flight and I'm just not sure every 60 minutes of football needs to be a referendum on the long-term future of Pickett. Digest what you see and make an evaluation? Sure. But write a guy off (or build him up) based on one game, two game, three games? Let's have a little patience. Relax. This season is slipping away to an extent, but Pickett's NFL tenure is in its infancy.
Thanks everyone for stopping by the chat. Ray Fittipaldo will be at the podium tomorrow, and of course we'll have wall-to-wall coverage all week. Stay tuned to the site for some notes and quotes I gathered from the locker room last night in Miami.
