When will we finally get the OC we desperately need?!
Brian Batko

Maybe next year.

I thought Trubisky did an ok job but that pass in triple coverage was a killer. It was 2nd and 3 , why didn’t they run it??

Given that the Steelers averaged 3 yards per carry on non-QB scrambles, I'm not convinced they would've gotten the first down, Gene-o.

BB, yes, that throw was a tad high but it landed in both my mitts. Even as a journalistic type, I’m giving you a 19% chance to make that catch. It could have impacted the whole tenor of the contest. Bottom line, a man with my contractual situation needs to make that catch. Your thoughts, if any?

Hey I appreciate that but I don't think I'm making that catch either, considering Diontae is two or three inches taller than me. Bottom line, I was never in favor of a contract extension for Johnson. He's such a frustrating player. Does so many good things that help this offense function, so I can see why the Steelers wanted to pay him, but there also are so many routine plays missed and a ceiling that leaves much to be desired.

Why does it seem like our players are always wearing the wrong cleats, especially at home?  It seems like we always have players falling down and the other team does not.

Not sure about that one, Offensive Guru. Guess I gotta go find an Equipment Guru.

Brian, Among the hundred things that puzzle me about the Steelers this season:  why not target Darnell Washington?  He's 6'7" and has been targeted exactly 3 times in our 7 games (with 1 reception).  Turn him loose and throw him the ball!

We've been over this, artie. As a pass-catcher, he really doesn't play to his combine athleticism and as a route-runner, he's not very polished. The Steelers wanna win games even more than the fans, so if it was obvious that the rookie tight end whose knee issues make him more of a plodder than a smooth mover could help, they'd factor him into the plan more. Georgia barely threw to him, too, and I think those coaches knew what they were doing.

I'm so frustrated by an offense that is bad at every level and a defense that has serious problems except in the pash rush. It seems to me that significant change is needed, but--though I am no Tomlin-hater--I can't see anything but incremental change as long as he is head coach. Is there any chance at all the Steelers might clean house and bring in a new regime, like from Noll to Cowher? Throw a dog a bone, here. :)

It's really the ultimate question that surrounds the Steelers, isn't it? And it comes down to your perspective. If you think it's better to hover above .500, win more than you lose, keep knocking on the door of the playoffs and getting in them more often than not, while hoping to eventually break through with sustained success - keeping Tomlin makes sense. If you're someone who thinks it's worth blowing up everything, throwing a dart at a new head coach and hoping it goes well, knowing full well it could actually go a lot worse, than that's your take and that's fine. Personally, I tend to learn toward the former, as the Steelers do too, clearly, and that's still where I am currently with Tomlin. If you totally disagree with that and don't want to hear it, then cool, maybe I'm not for you. That's also fine.

Is it time to move on from Mike Tomlin?  Let’s face it, Chaz Noll got stale even as great as he was.  So did Bill Cowher.

The last thing I'll say on it, and we'll end the chat with this, is there is a way to split the difference here in my eyes. Make sure he elevates his coaching staff and the assistants around him this offseason, especially the offensive coordinator. Give him whatever financial commitment is necessary to do so. And if those hires that look great on-paper also don't change the overall trajectory of this franchise, then yeah, staleness is very much a concern.

OK folks, Chris Carter's off so I've gotta tape the North Shore Drive podcast with Ray Fittipaldo now. Busy day, busy week with Thursday night football, but I ain't complaining.
