I'm not gonna bash anyone who thinks they should change the QB, OC or both, but I'm just not sure what it'll achieve. Seems like it would just be a scapegoat, and maybe that is needed simply to alter the mood, but Tomlin always says he won't change for the sake of change.

Hi Brian.  Najee doesn't look right.  The swing pass on 3rd and 2 where he had the 1st down but decided to (omg) stop and juke a pair of Halloween ghosts was egregious!  Warren looks like he knows what he's doing.  The team should make a change.  Not saying Najee isn't a better RB long term, but if they are trying to win games, Warren is the better option right now.  Thoughts?

The whole thing with Harris is strange. He's been quite candid and critical since the start of the season that he doesn't want people blaming the OL in front of him, he needs to trust them more, players shouldn't be pointing fingers, all that good captain-y stuff. Then yesterday he says in the locker room he can't make the holes for himself, he can't do everything. These are the sorts of storylines that pop up with bad teams playing poorly.

Do the Rooney's even care anymore?  This team has been a train wreck for the last 3 years...

Of course they care. That doesn't mean they have the answers.

It seems like some young QBs have recently made their "big leap" in year 3.  Hurts never impressed until this year.  Even Josh Allen didn't look special until year 3.  Meanwhile, it's year 2 for the 5 QBs taken in 2001 Draft and none of them appear to have "it" yet.  How long do you think it will realistically take to decide if Pickett can be the guy, and has Canada's offense helped to delay the evaluation process.  Thanks!

The dysfunction in this offense doesn't help matters, that's for sure. I get what you're saying, but there also are plenty of QBs who showed right away they have "it." Josh Allen was pretty good Year 2. Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson were really sharp from the start. Patrick Mahomes is a slightly different case because of his redshirt year. I don't know when we'll know.

When is enough, enough? Week in and week out the offense can't put up decent numbers on the scoreboard and the defense is allowing way too many points. In your opinion what needs to happen to at least see some good this year?

Staff goes back to the drawing board this week, figures out what ails them and how to fix it, implements those changes for the second half of the season. The schedule lightens up (I think) and maybe Pickett can find a rhythm that gives him something to build on from his rookie year.

After another beat down from an elite NFL team, has HC MT and the coaching staff lost control of this team? Thanks for the chats.

No.

do you think Tomlin ever gets reamed out behind closed doors? by his superior or whoever he reports to? There's a tiny bit of solace in the thought of it. just imagining the arrogantly stubborn coach, so lacking in humility, having to sit there and actually be held accountable would give a lot of people a little satisfaction. anyway thanks + happy monday!

Ah, I'm pretty sure it doesn't go down like that. You don't think Tomlin is taking it plenty hard on himself? Anyway, I'm sure he gets chewed out every game by plenty of people watching from home/in the stands.

$116,027,017doesn't take you as far as it once did. Do you too blame inflation for the cost/benefit ratio of this year's Steeler "defense"?
Brian Batko
10:57
Well, it'd be nice to have No. 90 out there to inflate some of the numbers. But sure, the defense has been an abject disappointment regardless of injuries. Clearly, they believed in some guys who simply aren't playing up to expectations, especially the corners.

Hey Brian! If Pickett plays like this the rest of the year (some flashes, but not great) and the Steelers finish with a top 5 pick, is there any chance they could take another QB? Or do you think they'd look more to a pick for the OLine/DLine?
Brian Batko
10:58
They might need a cornerback. Or they might need to trade back and get a cornerback, linebacker and defensive lineman.

I believe Kenny is a tough evaluation. He hasn't played well, but I'm not sure it's realistic to expect any better of a rookie with no run game, an inconsistent and highly penalized line and perhaps the worst scheme and play calling in the NFL. Any sense on what the Steelers think of him? If they finish with a record that puts them in line to draft one of the top QBs in this draft, do they go that route or build around Kenny?
Brian Batko

A lot of young QBs are tough evaluations. As someone pointed out earlier, look at the Jags and Jets right now with picks 1 and 2 last year. Neither guy is taking that leap, to say the least. So, I still think you use next year's draft to build around him, especially adding some competition to the OL. Then again, this is part of the reason why I didn't think they should draft a QB this year, because it wasn't exactly a soft place to land in that regard.
OK everyone, that's all the time we have for today. Car ride is going smooth and we're almost back to Pittsburgh, where I'll head into the locker room for some Monday access. Wish me luck...
