Maybe. I like Kenny Pickett and love his journey, but let's not call him Dan Marino just yet, Pete.

Hi Brian,  Thanks for the chats!  Who approves the offensive game plan?  I can't fathom the reasoning behind Rudolph throwing 50 times yesterday.  It would not have been a big adjustment to have a run heavy game plan on a wet soggy day against one of the worst rushing defenses in the league.  To me, that is an example of greater problems with this coaching staff.  Thoughts?

No problem, Steve. It's a collaborative effort. I'm sure Mike Tomlin and Matt Canada have joint approval of that, if you want to look at it in that sense. Even Mason Rudolph said he had time to go over things with Canada once Roethlisberger was ruled out. Still doesn't make much sense, does it?

I know it won't happen but should the Steeler brass finally admit that Mason R. is NOT the answer moving forward? Bouncing a 10 yd pass to a wide open Ray Ray in the endzone!!

No, they aren't going to hold a press conference today announcing that they've released Mason Rudolph.
Nor should they. That would kind of ruin my Monday.

Every off season we hear how they want to run the ball better. They go out and take Najee #1 and then in a first goal at the 5 against the Lions... They pass 3 times?

If I can conjure up any sort of devil's advocate take here, it would be that we all saw how lousy the Steelers were running the ball Monday night against the Bears, especially in the second half. Perhaps Tomlin, Canada and Co. did not want to let the Lions hang around in that one by getting stonewalled on run after run. Do I agree with that? No. Is it a reasonable explanation for the game plan? Possibly.

What is going on with the offense ? I dont remember seeing one pass down the seems this year, everything is outside the numbers or a quick slant. A lot of the plays had the entire secondary of Detroit with in 5 yards of the line of scrimmage and the Steelers cant throw it in the middle of the field once?

Very reminiscent of last year's late-season slide, wasn't it?

OK everyone, we're about to talk with Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ray-Ray McCloud on Zoom, so I've got to run. Thanks for the good back-and-forth. Still have no idea what I just saw yesterday, but at least we got to chat about it. See you next Monday.
