That's hard to say off the top of my head, but it's been awful, no doubt about it. And this isn't second-guessing. If I mentioned it once, I mentioned it a thousand times this offseason that they needed to bolster their offensive coaching staff and failed to do so after retaining Matt Canada. I was adamant they hire a more experienced, play caller-capable offensive assistant. You know, just in case the offense was completely putrid once again, failed to ever hit 400 yards and Canada had to be fired midseason. JUST IN CASE THAT WERE TO HAPPEN

And another thing. If the reasoning behind not doing that is that it would've had a negative effect on Canada to have someone breathing down his neck, then that's an even bigger indictment on him and the entire operation.

If Cowher was allowed 3 losing seasons...2 of which were under 400 win %....shouldn't Tomlin be allowed one without being called the worst coach ever by so many Pittsburgh fans?

To be fair, I don't think many are calling him the worst coach ever, but it's more about the long playoff win drought and everything happening on the margins. Jets fans would laugh at that complaint, but hey, the whole deal with being the Steelers is that you aren't the Jets and don't want to risk becoming them.
