Brian Batko's Steelers chat: 4.30.19

Best: Pirates wild-card game vs. the Reds. I wasn't there, but my wife was, and I really wish I would've been.

Worst: Have to say Scottie Reynolds ending Pitt's shot at a Final Four. A close second would be just about every game played by the Post-Gazette softball team when that was a thing.

What's the REAL reason Ed left the P-G?  Is it that he couldn't stand these chats any longer?
Brian Batko
2:53
Yeah, especially the questions from that Nick guy.

Favorite draft pick from this past weekend?
Brian Batko
2:53
Qadree Ollison. He's the only one I know personally, and quite a nice fellow, in my humble opinion.

Other than Bush what's your favorite pick the Steelers made as far as immediate help
Brian Batko
2:55
Probably Benny Snell. I didn't think the Steelers had to, or would, draft an RB that high but I really like him. You need someone to pick up some tough yards while also keeping James Conner fresh, could've done much much worse than Snell Yeah.

Welcome Mr Batko.
Its very clear that this year the Steelers drafted 100% for Need.
Not that I disagree this year, but any comments on the approach as opposed to BPA ?

Hey, you're back from our draft chat Thursday night. Always good to see return customers. Not sure I agree with you here, though. As I said to Greg, I didn't think the Snell pick was as much of a need as it might've been BPA. You could maybe even say the same for Diontae Johnson in the second pick of the third. To be honest, they didn't have that many true "needs" coming in anyway, relatively speaking, at least.

Do you like your coffee with cream and sugar?
Brian Batko

Just cream, sometimes black.

Batko, has anyone told you you look like actor Hugo Weaving?
Brian Batko
2:57
No. I don't even know who that is.

Is Ed Bouchette as grouchy in person as he seemed during these chats?
Brian Batko
2:58
Far from it. What did you all do to him?

Hi Brian.  Welcome to the Steelers beat!  So you will be the third wheel for the "Traveling Steelberries", starring Gerry Dulac, and Ray Fittipaldo.

Just to follow-up, do you have a favorite movie? Ed used to pepper us with weird details like that now and again. Welcome aboard!

Oh man, if we're talking dramas, Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are always way up there for me. Comedy-wise, I'll take Wedding Crashers.

Hi Brian, Thanks for the chat.
Sutton Smith is the sleeper of the bunch. From Wikipedia: In his sophomore season, Smith led the nation in sacks (14), tackles for loss (29.5), and quarterback pressures (73)
He has a nose for the ball. If he drops 10 pounds he'll improve his 40 time.

I don't disagree. If a guy's combine performance, or his size, are the biggest knocks, I'm willing to work with that. For Sutton Smith, if his college production can be translated to the NFL, you might as well be the team that finds out.

Thoughts on Avengers: Endgame?
Brian Batko

Never seen a single one of the Marvel or DC movies, I don't think.

OK, I'll say that's a good note to end on. So many questions and so many readers, so really, thanks so much for following along for my first Steelers chat. Apologies if I couldn't get to you, but you can always follow me on Twitter @BrianBatko. We'll do it again next week.
