Bats!  Will you be attending the remainder of OTA’s?  If so, what will your role be??
Brian Batko
2:42
Watch. Write. Talk. Type. Yes, I'll be here. My first OTAs dispatch is here https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2019/05/21/steelers-offse...

In your opinion, true or false, LB doesn’t care if his new coach wants him or not cuz’ he got himself paid and that was all that mattered?
Brian Batko
2:44
True, I don't think Le'Veon Bell cares too much about that. I still kind of feel bad that this stuff is leaking out, but I don't feel bad for his wallet.
The Line
2:44
Can Gerald McCoy be a OLB in a base 3-4.... again... $$$ aside...
Brian Batko
2:44
I don't know off hand how many 6-4, 300-pound OLBs there are, but I can't imagine many.
Basile
2:45
Chances of Rudolph being the second QB?
Brian Batko
2:45
I'd put it above 50-50, I guess

In "Renegade" are the Steelers the whining for his mama condemned criminal or the "long arm of the law" i.e. the "hangman?"
Brian Batko
2:46
I believe the Renegade, in question, is crying out for his mother.

Brian, Please tell the other sports writers to stop taking up column  space on ex Steeler players. They are starting to sound like the ex-girlfriend. Let AB and LB to.
Brian Batko
2:46
Ah, yes, I see your point. But there remains an appetite for it here, right or wrong.
Simplify the simplicity
2:47
What % of hamstring injuries are dehydration related? I'd surmise that it's in the 90th percentile.
Brian Batko
2:47
Indubitably

Great addition to the team - thanks for your chats! When will we Steeler fans realize that Mr. big chest just wanted a new deal since he had no more guaranteed $$$ and made an AB of himself to get out of town.  I really feel that the whole team will be way more focused and driven to win a championship this year.  What is your opinion on overall team chemistry since you've followed the team?
Brian Batko
2:48
Appreciate it, Michael. We haven't had a chance to see much of "team chemistry," really. But I don't know how it couldn't be a relief to be rid of a couple guys who talked a lot and tweeted even more. Guys had to address the offseason today, but eventually this stuff should die down.

Will spreading the valley around more make up for losing AB?  Defenses wouldnt w where the ball will go as much with AB gone.
Brian Batko
2:49
Possibly, but from an on-field perspective, I think I'd still rather have 84.

2:51
I am nervous about our Safety's. Davis is average on a good day, though I think Edmonds has a chance to be good. Our back-up are spec
Brian Batko
2:51
Yeah, needs to be more production there. Marcus Allen and Cam Sutton seem to be trending more toward being used in subpackages than fighting for starting spots deep.

Feels like this defense is moving towards being very good. If they achieve greatness, what will the nickname be?

Where does Cook come off thinking Tomlin should be extended? Last year was an abomination..he should have been fired after last season...
Brian Batko
2:54
When you factor in his overall success rate and chalk up locker room issues as more of an AB problem than a culture problem, well, you get Ron's argument in this column from yesterday: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/ron-cook/2019/05/20/mike-tomlin-co...

How about every time Bush gets a turnover and/or sack a blast of Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55"? I mean it keeps the criminal element tradition alive... musically speaking, of course.

winning formula for this season?  (other than being ahead when the clock strikes 0:00) also I had to look up what a doldrum was haha
Brian Batko
2:56
I'm glad you learned something in today's chat. Like any football formula, win the turnover battle!

Yo Bats.  Greatest receiver in Steelers history is???
Brian Batko
2:58
The end of the Antonio Brown era here was great for the legacies of Lynn Swann and John Stallworth, if you ask me.

Hines Ward ! Hands down!

And him.

I really like both Rogers, and Switzer.  Can they keep both?
Brian Batko
2:59
I think it's unlikely.

With Special teams being more than a disaster last, and with the loss of DHB & possibly Dirty Red due to the youth movement,  Could you see ST being a true strength with increased speed, etc., esp if Boz gets back on track?
Brian Batko
2:59
The book on a lot of the guys drafted is that they can help on ST right away, if not on defense. So, possibly. Speed was added, that's for sure.
Butch Cassidy
2:59
Paper skinned Brown couldn't handle anyone criticizing him... we'd have skinned him alive here at the Hole in the Wall... is anyone else on the current team so fragile?
Brian Batko

I sure hope not. As a reporter, really all I ask is that players understand we have a job to do, and that we strive to do it fairly. We're not out to get them or out to help their cause. We're a conduit for our audience.
