I'm sorry, I don't know. I hope rookies don't have to pay too many dues when the Post-Gazette team travels to games, though.

I think Walk-Up-music for batters in MLB is the choice of the players for the most part. Do NFL players have any say in the stadium music? Just wondering if players even notice it or use music to get more jacked up for game action. I use music when running or shooting hoops. Does Devin Bush have a Ray Lewis dance routine yet?
Brian Batko
2:40
Good question, Danny. I'm sure they do get a say in it. I can remember Verron Haynes always dancing wild to the pregame music at Heinz Field when the team would stretch. Not sure about Bush's celebrations/dancing.

Does it say something about JuJu's character (or lack thereof) that he had to be reminded by team leaders to accommodate the media?
Brian Batko
2:41
We don't KNOW that Ben Roethlisberger told JuJu to meet with media last week. He might have. Not really sure it's my place to weigh in on whether players should always talk to the media. Of course I'm biased. I don't think not doing it makes someone a bad character.

As fans, we have no idea. In your opinion, is clubhouse harmony that important to a winning team? I remember the Raiders of the 70's, for example. Is it even remotely possible that the Steelers can be better this year?
Brian Batko
2:43
I don't see how it can be worse for a bunch of guys who no longer have to answer when their No. 1 running back will be reporting or why their No. 1 wide receiver tweeted this or that. But I do think team chemistry is somewhat overrated. You need good players and schemes more than you need that, rather than the other way around. Just my opinion.

Is Hader, the tight end from Youngstown State the Steelers signed several months ago still with the team?
Brian Batko
2:44
Kevin Rader, yes. He's also from Pine-Richland, and he's still here on the 91-man offseason roster.

Hi Brian. Welcome to the Steelers beat. What is the feeling among players and coaches regarding Mr. Porter and his divisive comments? Thanks and nice having you on board. Enjoy your writing style.
Brian Batko
2:45
Hey, thanks! I didn't ask anyone about Joey Porter today after practice. Thought Chris Boswell is a more interesting story, and that's what I wrote about: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2019/05/28/chris-boswell-...
Although it would've been funny if I asked the kicker what he thought about the former outside linebackers coach taking a shot at the quarterback

i saw that Sutton Smith was practicing at Fullback last week and I also read that he was a really good high school running back. Are they considering moving him permanently to offense? I really want to see what he can do rushing the passer.
Brian Batko
2:47
Eh, I don't think so. Probably just trying some different things with a rookie who's eager to help however possible.

Do the Steelers believe that Mason Rudolph is there next Franchise qb or they think that guy is not on the current roster Brian?
Brian Batko
2:51
Rudolph's rookie contract has three years left. Ben Roethlisberger just signed up for three more. So, they'll be done at the same time. Would be a good problem to have though if Rudolph is ready and Ben is still playing at a high level.

Did you get an invite to the defense’s steak cook off?! Looks like everyone was hanging out and having a good time. I think the locker room dynamic is going to be really different this year. What say you Brian?
Brian Batko
2:51
I think my invite must have gotten lost in the mail.

Who is one former Steelers player you wish you could have been in a position to interview had you been in this capacity back then?  Why?
Brian Batko
2:52
Think I'd have to say Jack Lambert, mainly because of his "Mad Man Jack" personality. I'm sure those were interesting times.
Chris
2:53
If Mason Rudolph can't move up and take over the number 2 spot this pick was a true waste . What say you Mr. Batko?
Brian Batko
2:53
Not if you can still get something in exchange for him. But yeah, generally, any third-rounder who doesn't become a starter is pretty much one that got away.
Greg
2:54
Would be great to see a late round or undrafted free agent surprise and make a nice contribution to the roster, like FWP did. Any idea who you might see doing that this year?
Brian Batko
2:55
Maybe one of the safeties, Dravon Askew-Henry or P.J. Locke? Travon McMillian might not be Willie Parker, but he's probably competing for one of the last roster spots at RB, should they decide to keep four tailbacks (Conner, Samuels, Snell the clear top three).

Do you think the steelers window has closed on  a super bowl run or is there more gas in the tank?
Brian Batko
2:57
As long as they have Ben Roethlisberger at QB, I think the window is open.

Darrell Green was the best small CB ever.

Over/under on Steelers D sack total. 45. Individual team leader over/under. 12.

I'll say over again, and over, accordingly.
Adam Case’s Thoughts
2:59
Hmmm.... wonder if the Steelers would be interested in making a deal for our running back??? ... thinking of trading him.... hmmm.... what is the market like?????
Brian Batko

Wait, who is Adam Case?
And with that, this chat has ended. Go in peace.
