Hypothetically .... If the Steelers fired Tomlin after this season do you think Munchak would come back to Pittsburgh for a head coaching position?  I do.
Brian Batko
2:31
No idea, but I have to think this would be a coveted HC gig, given the track record of stability here.

Diontae Spencer is small, but he had a VERY impressive career so far in the CFL. Do you think his CFL experience will translate to the NFL and should he not make the team is he a free agent who can sign with any team in Canada?  I'd love to see Winnipeg get a shot at him as I feel he'd fit in well with their offense and QB Matt Nichols. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Brian!!!
Brian Batko

Not sure about the ins and outs of CFL free agency. I think Spencer's skills can translate, but it's gonna be tough to break into this wide receiver room given the size, experience, and pedigree ahead of him. I'd love to see him in Winnipeg snagging missiles from ol' Matty Nichols, myself.

It was a question....perhaps a rhetorical one but a question nonetheless.

Those are my favorite ones.

Thanks for the chats Brian! What are your thoughts on using starters on special teams? Do you think it’s worth making the ST better but risking injury? (like Haden’s ST injury against Cleveland)
Brian Batko
2:35
Not a huge fan of it. Never really liked Antonio Brown returning punts, even if he is the most electric guy with the ball in his hands. Just think it's a needless injury risk, for the most part. Find backups who are either young and hungry or experienced and hungry, but hungry to make an impact in that area no matter what.

Any signs of Mason Rudolph improvement to show he can some day take Bens place in the future?
Brian Batko
2:37
In OTAs, honestly, no. Not a ton to glean from the quarterbacks right now.

Batko, I have to say that I enjoy your personality in these chats. You have a cool persona! keep up the great reporting!!!
Brian Batko

Not even my wife would say that.

Do you think Ben R will play the remainder of his new contract extension?
Brian Batko
2:38
I'll say yes, but there are reasons to predict that he might not. Injury, winning a third ring, etc.

What seems to be the problem with Diontae Johnson? Has he gotten any work in?
Brian Batko
2:39
Yes, he has. No need to fret.

I concur, his personality ain’t that great....
Brian Batko

There you have it.

Puncey has said when Ben hangs it up, so will he. Have a QB and center who played their careers together ever entered the HOF together?
Brian Batko
2:40
I don't know that one off the top of my head, but I love that question. Might steal it for this week's mailbag.

Hi Brian, really enjoy your chats.  After TJ Watt, who do you think will have the most sacks for the D this year?
Brian Batko
2:42
You're too kind, Turk. I'll go with Cam Heyward again.

Brian,  I noticed 2 Lions players that are represented by the snake Rosenhaus unhappy with their contracts & letting everyone on social media aware of this.  Do you feel what Antonio & Rosenahus got away with last year has sent a trend in the NFL?  Me personally would not sign or draft anyone represented by the snake.
Brian Batko
2:45
It's absolutely worth wondering if Antonio Brown forcing his way out becomes a blueprint of sorts for others. But here's the thing: Not everyone has the clout or resume of AB. As for the second part, that'll be tough to do, considering Devin Bush, Joe Haden, Sean Davis and James Washington - among others - currently on this team are repped by Rosenhaus.

When are we going to sign some safety depth? One injury to Davis/Edmunds and its a big drop off

Is Grimble our backup TE September 8 or do the Steelers try to grab one after preseason?
Brian Batko
2:46
I don't know that they're going to go out and sign another NFL veteran, but if they do, it likely would be at one of these two spots. I'll say yes on Xavier Grimble, but this figures to be his last year to cement himself there.

Buy or sell that this season will be drama free for the Steelers?
Brian Batko
2:47
Buy. There will always be something, but I can't imagine it comparing to the last couple of Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown drama.

How many proms have you been invited to?
Brian Batko
2:47
I've been to two proms, but wouldn't say either date particularly wanted me there.

Have the Steelers brought anyone in to compete with Jordan Berry?
Brian Batko
2:48
They've brought in Ian Berry, man. Ian Berryman, man. Ian Berryman.

Call me overly sentimental, but I love the idea of a Griffey playing for the Steelers. Where would you say Trey is currently sitting on the depth chart?
Brian Batko
2:49
Trey Griffey is one of the bigger bodies in the mix, but I'd say somewhere between 6 and 9?

I read that JuJu S-S went to prom. Is that true? How is that allowed? He's not super old, but he's out of college. At my prom you could only take fellow students...and NOOOO I did not take my sister thank you very much!
Brian Batko

Guessing he got special dispensation from Chartiers Valley, what with being JuJu Smith-Schuster and all. Still think he doesn't have as much street cred there as T.J. McConnell.
