Anthony Franco
9:03
Hey everyone, going to let some questions trickle in here for a minute.
Chris Antonetti
9:04
Do you think we should be sellers now?? Or buy controllable players with our prospects eligible for rule 5 draft?
Anthony Franco
9:05
(Antonetti's the Indians president)
9:07
I think they're mostly going to hold at this point. Don't think they're kicking off any sort of full-on rebuild midseason because of one terrible week.
Could see them exploring the market for an outfielder or starting pitcher with control beyond this year, but I expect it to pretty quiet for them overall.

9:07
What do the Reds do, if anything, this deadline? Do they just shoot for bullpen, or do they look to add another left-handed bat as well?
Anthony Franco
9:09
I expect bullpen to be the big focus, but as has been discussed ad nauseam at this point, they could use an upgrade at shortstop.
9:10
Even if they're not prepared to take on Story's salary (not clear, but their offseason didn't suggest they would), a Jose Iglesias reunion or something like that.

With the Tigers playing well but the majority of the team just gaining necessary experience, who do you see them selling?
Anthony Franco
9:12
Think Schoop and José Cisnero wind up on the move.

If you’re Alex Anthopoulos, what do you do at the trade deadline?  It doesn’t seem that there’s much he can do to rescue this club and transform it into a serious contender.
Anthony Franco
9:12
(AA is Braves GM)
9:13
I'd still be trying to add. They're only 4.5 back and it's a team that entered the year as a World Series contender (to me at least). I think they'll be in on a reliever or two and maybe a catcher
Central Valley
9:14
Just heard the boys on MLB network that are covering today’s Reds Brewers game say Zaidi should consider selling? Flipping Gausman, Woos, etc for prospects? Is that plausible?
Anthony Franco
9:15
I didn't hear this, but no, the Giants shouldn't consider selling. They have the best record in baseball, they're obvious buyers
AJ Prellechez
9:15
Is Pablo Lopez available?
Anthony Franco
9:16
Marlins don't seem particularly inclined to move their controllable starters, no.
BlueJayMatt
9:16
How does Berrios' value compare with Stroman's when he went to the Mets? Should the return (if he's traded) be similar?
Anthony Franco
9:18
Pretty similar, yeah. Same amount of control as Stroman had in 2019 (year and a half). I think Berríos may be a little more valuable because he misses more bats but not far off
Hahn
9:19
Whom am I most likely going to deal for? And for who ?
Anthony Franco
9:19
(Hahn is White Sox GM)
9:20
They've been tied to a bunch of second baseman (or Trevor Story, who they'd apparently bump to second if they acquired). I think that's the main focus
9:21
With Jiménez coming back relatively soon and Goodwin playing well, I don't think they need a huge upgrade in the outfield. Could add a reliever, but that's true of basically every contender
Bucs
9:21
Is there anyone other than Frazier and RichRod that we trade?
Anthony Franco
9:22
Chris Stratton and Tyler Anderson, probably. Stallings makes sense on paper but there hasn't been any talk about that.
That I've seen, at least
Rangers
9:23
Crouse, Winn, Ragans and Jung are all rolling and should get opps in the bigs at some point next season. Mix in Kolby Allard, Adolis Garcia and IKF and thats a solid young core. Sooo ... do you keep Kyle Gibson around for next year, or shop him and Gallo before the trade deadline to try and maximize return?
Anthony Franco
9:24
I'd definitely move Gibson. He'll be 34 next year and there should be a ton of demand for him in the next couple weeks
9:26
Gallo's tougher because he's young and really good but he's also only controllable through 2022. So I think he gets moved too but I'd at least be in touch with Boras to gauge his ask on an extension first
Robert Stock Market
9:27
How much is Conforto hurting his value this season?
Anthony Franco
9:28
Obviously not the platform year he wanted, but I think he could still mostly salvage it with a good second half. It's not like he started striking out a ton
9:29
He's just not been hitting the ball hard, which is weird. But if he hits 12-15 homers and slugs .475 in the second half (which I still think he's capable of doing), he'll be fine
Ookla the Mok
9:30
Dombrowski is not really known as a "sit still guy" any inkling on a move he may make to get his team back into the playoffs...?
Anthony Franco
9:30
(Phillies president)
9:32
I think they might slow play this one a little bit. Maybe grab a reliever but they're in fourth place and worse on paper than the Mets, who they'd need to make up 4.5 games on
9:34
Doubt they're cutting bait on Bohm or anything. Just ride it out with the current roster and the bullpen stops blowing every lead they have
Orioles
9:34
With a lot of underperforming assets with little value can we expect any deadline moves?
Anthony Franco
9:35
I think Fry and Sulser will go. Imagine they'd listen on Mullins but would be surprised if he ends up moving. Means' injury probably means he's more likely an offseason candidate
Brandon Marsh
9:35
Does Walsh's emergence make me more likely to be traded?
