Bryant for dustin may and verdugo?
Steve Adams
3:36
Dodgers aren't doing that
JK
3:37
Who’s a better suitor for Mookie, Dodgers or Padres?
Steve Adams
3:38
Dodgers make more sense just because we know they're going to be in the postseason mix and can more easily fit him into their traditional payroll levels. The Padres would need to unload Myers to make it happen, and they're still probably only a Wild Card team even with him.
Trey Mancini
3:38
Anyone trading for me? Aren't I a cheaper, younger Castellanos?
Steve Adams
3:38
Orioles haven't been motivated to trade him.
3:39
And Mancini is 16 days younger than Castellanos, so on that part ... no.
Joe
3:39
dodger lover?
Steve Adams
3:40
Based on what? Saying they're a likelier suitor for Betts? Okey dokey.

Is Mike Hazen smart or crazy for saying that even if he can't catch the Dodgers, teams have to do more to push them so they are more likely to make mistakes in the front office?
Steve Adams
3:43
I love the way Mike Hazen run the D-backs and wish more teams had the mentality he does. He'll move high-end assets near the end of their club control with an eye toward adding immediate MLB-ready help -- even if it's not necessarily All Star-caliber upside. Operating in that capacity to keep your team in perennial position to contend is the way I believe it should be done, as opposed to arduous rebuilds with levels of return that diminish the more other clubs around you tank.

Weird the Reds designated a decent prospect like Jose Siri...you think they plan on putting him in a trade?
Steve Adams
3:43
He's been terrible in back to back years. I agree that I figured they'd boot Schebler before someone like him, but Siri is a bit removed from being a decent prospect at this point.

Ryan Mountcastle raked last year in AAA. Does he start the year with the team or does he have to earn the starting 1B job?
Steve Adams
3:44
The Orioles will start him in the minors

Do you see me breaking camp with the O's or going to a team in need of a 7th/8th inning guy?
Steve Adams
3:46
I think he'll start the season in Baltimore and probably be traded this summer.

Do you think the cardinals are done making moves this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:47
In terms of major acquisitions, yes. Some additional minor league deals or a small veteran bullpen/bench pickup doesn't seem out of the question.

Is it just me or are the Blue Jays riding their whole rebuild on Guerrero Jr. being a star? For me to believe, I have to see more pitching prospects make bigger strides
Steve Adams
3:50
If you ignore Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, Lourdes Gurriel, Nate Pearson and the offseason signings of Ryu, Roark and others -- sure.

But I'd say there's a lot more going for the Jays than just Baby Vlad's future (on which I remain quite bullish)

Where will Kevin Pillar start the season?
Steve Adams
3:50
Rangers are my guess -- guess he could go to the Pirates if no one else is offering a MLB deal and regular playing time
Cubs OF
3:51
Why souza over Pillar
Steve Adams
3:52
Fans still seem shocked that Pillar was non-tendered and hasn't been a popular offseason target, but he has a sub-.300 OBP for his career, was at .287 in that regard in 2019 and isn't the defender he once was.

As for the Cubs -- you can be sure that Souza's asking price was much lower, which played into things as well.

Betts get traded before Spring Training?
Steve Adams
3:53
I don't think so
Not saying it's impossible, of course, but if I were making my pick today I'd say he stays.
Bryant Grievance
3:54
Why is this taking so long?
Steve Adams
3:54
No one knows. Even Bryant and Boras probably don't know exactly when it'll end. I know I say this every week, but that's just reality right now.
Aquino
3:56
Buying or selling me?
Steve Adams
3:57
He had a .236 OBP in September and hasn't shown that type of power outside of the juiced-ball year. I'm not totally writing him off, but I'm not particularly high on him. Seems the Reds are at least somewhat skeptical, too, based on the Castellanos signing.

Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball opens on Thursday. Will you be playing?
Steve Adams
3:57
I play in a few leagues every year, yeah

Can you see any teams going with a 6-man rotation in 2020?  Harder and harder to find SP who can give 180+ innings.
Steve Adams
3:59
Most teams already rely on 6-10 guys to get them through a year's worth of starts. They don't need to term it as such, since they'll rotate some guys through the IL, some through the minors, etc. -- but we're not going to see a repeat of that crazy Reds 2013 rotation (where five guys combined for 161 of the team's 162 starts) ever again

Is a Marcus Semien extension imminent? Or is his rise to stardom going to cause some complications?
Steve Adams
3:59
Doubt the A's pay the price on a multi-year deal there
