Apologies on the late start -- wanted to get Zaidi's comments up and then the Angels made some coaching changes. Let's get underway!
David Stearns
4:32
Brewers Nats who ya got tn?
Steve Adams
4:32
Nationals tonight, Rays tomorrow. Nothing against Milwaukee or Oakland, more just a vote of confidence in Scherzer/Morton.

It seems a lot went right for this team yet they still missed the postseason. What can they do within their limitations to make the postseason next year?
Steve Adams
4:36
As much went right for them, they still had more go wrong. Diaz and Familia melted down, the Lowrie signing was a disaster, Cano was awful, Nimmo missed half the season.

That said, I didn't like them as a playoff team even back in March/April. They'll have a good pitching staff next year, but I'm still going to question their defensive prowess, bullpen makeup and the durability of numerous players. They need to upgrade the bullpen (again), but the number of high-priced veterans with durability concerns elsewhere on the roster make specific areas of upgrade more difficult to engineer.

Just to clarify, Chris Martin is indeed a FA this offseason right?
Steve Adams
4:36
He is, yes.
4:37
He's been good for the Braves, and Allard's ceiling is rather limited, but I still am surprised they gave him up for a half season of Martin.

4:38
Orioles make any outside pick ups this off season or stick with in house auditions?
Steve Adams
4:39
There'll be more waiver claims (like today's pickup of Sulser), and I think they're missing an opportunity if they don't add a bargain or arm or two -- both in the 'pen and the rotation.
Corky Miller
4:39
Do the Braves exercise Markakis's option or look for an outfielder with more power?
Steve Adams
4:40
It's a $4MM decision for them since he's guaranteed the $2MM buyout. At that price, I don't see why not. They could still add an RF upgrade and keep Markakis as a bench piece and leader

4:41
Does Matt Carpenter have any value to an AL team that could use him as a multiple position sub/DH?
Steve Adams
4:41
Not at anywhere near his current contract ($38MM total from 2020-21)

What do u think about the nats posting the playoff roster with 5 relievers
Steve Adams
4:43
I thought it was pretty wise to recognize that the Brewers are going to stock up on relievers and play matchups by countering with a extremely deep bench. They need Scherzer to go long anyway, and they have a pretty good contingency plan with Stras and Corbin if he doesn't.

I'm curious to see if they use one of those two to close out the game over the final 2-3 innings if they have a lead. I certainly would.

What surprise signing do you see the Indians making
Steve Adams
4:43
I think the Indians spending on any free agent of note would be a surprise. I don't expect them to do so.
Yankees
4:44
Should we make a run at Cole or persuade a trade for Thor?
Steve Adams
4:44
Don't have to be mutually exclusive, but Cole is more likely. Doesn't sound like the Mets are going to be anxious to trade Thor with their eyes on contending in 2020.
Dennis
4:44
What team is a fit for Kipnis if Indians decline his option?
Steve Adams
4:45
The Indians are for sure declining it.
4:47
Possible fits: White Sox, Tigers, Red Sox, A's, Reds ... I don't know, it's hard to see him being anyone's top choice. I think he's looking at a year and less than $6MM.
Jake Lamb
4:48
I am going to be non-tendered, aren't I?
Steve Adams
4:49
I'd consider it more likely than not, though he could also be traded to another club before the tender deadline. He's not as essential to the D-backs as he once was.
Tom
4:49
Tyler O'Neill for Thor?
Steve Adams
4:49
Mets aren't doing that.
Alex Anthopoulos
4:49
Do you think 3 years/ 80 million is a good enough offer to keep Donaldson in Atlanta?
Steve Adams
4:49
I do
Marcus Betts
4:50
Should I test free agency? Or should I go back to the Red Sox
Steve Adams
4:51
It's pretty clear that he's not signing an extension at this point. Doesn't mean he won't stay with the Red Sox long-term, but if he's going to, it seems like it'll have to be on a free-agent deal at open-market prices.
AA
4:51
More likelihood - Keuchel resigning or signing Bumgarner?
Steve Adams
4:51
Keuchel will be cheaper and won't have a qualifying offer attached, so I'd call it likelier that the Braves re-sign him.
Eloy
4:52
Kipnis to the White Sox?  You are insane -they don't need a 2b and he is a horrible outfielder.
Steve Adams
4:53
I don't think they're going to give Madrigal the gig on opening day. Could just keep Yolmer, sure, but he's a non-tender candidate and Kipnis has some more upside. Some veteran is probably going to be there as a placeholder, whether it's Yolmer, Kipnis or someone else.

Odds that Ryu wins the Cy Young AND is pitching for a new team next season?
Steve Adams
4:54
I think deGrom wins it, and I think he's pitching elsewhere in 2020.
Ryu is pitching elsewhere, that is.
deGrom isn't going anywhere.

I think Mazara is a great fit for the White Sox he plays RF hits left handed and is young enough to fit in with the youth movement. What would it take to get him from Texas?
