Happy Halloween and Happy Game 6 of the most bonkers World Series in recent history, all
3:02
I'm going to fetch a water and some form of sustenance, and we shall begin
Phil
3:03
In regards to STL, could Freddie Freeman be an option?
Steve Adams
3:04
I mean, I suppose the new front office (if Hart goes) may not be as against trading him as Coppolella & Co. were, but I'd still be genuinely surprised to see him made available this winter

who survives to win the series? astros or dodgers bullpen?
Steve Adams
3:05
At this point I'm picking Houston, which seems like an unexciting answer given their series lead. But really, I'm just hoping it goes to seven games. This series has been utter insanity and I want more.

Does Masahiro Tanaka opt out? If so, who does he sign with?
Steve Adams
3:06
He will, and I don't think he'll return to the Yankees. We're kicking around possible destinations for where these guys are going to sign right now in preparation for this week's annual Top 50 Free Agent list and team/contract predictions. I'm feeling the Cubs on Tanaka at the moment, but we've discussed a lot of scenarios.

Do you think the Brewers trade from their outfield prospect depth to acquire a top of the rotation starting pitcher? Stroman, Archer, etc.?
Steve Adams
3:07
I think the Brewers will be in the mix to simply sign a top-end starter in free agency. Their payroll slate is practically blank in the long term, and a lot of the usual suspects (Yankees, Red Sox, Giants, Rangers, etc.) don't seem likely to pursue the top-of-the-market starters this winter.

can ellsbury be traded to the mariners
Steve Adams
3:09
He can be traded anywhere he approves of. I get that he's from the Pacific Northwest, so people always make that connection, but I don't see why it has to be limited to Seattle as the only place for him to go.

Furthermore, I don't think an Ellsbury trade is as likely as some expect. No one wants to go anywhere near that contract unless the Yankees eat something like $12MM annually.'

Any potential SS trade targets for the Padres?
Steve Adams
3:09
Aledmys Diaz and Jurickson Profar

Clint Frazier for Newcomb or Fried, who says no?
Steve Adams
3:10
I'd rather have Frazier

Can we get the weekly Lance Lynn question out of the way quickly.
Steve Adams
3:10
I do not think he is as good as a lot of others who frequent these chats seem to. This much has not changed.
3:11
I predict he will sign with the Rangers.
Thus concludes the weekly Lance Lynn phase of the chat.

Do you see Giles meeting moved to a set up role next year? Who should the Astros get for a closer then?
Steve Adams
3:12
I think there's a chance, yeah. I'd imagine Houston will be involved on Wade Davis, Greg Holland, Addison Reed, etc. -- and they'll probably be tied to trade targets like Raisel Iglesias as well. They're going to add to the 'pen -- just a matter of how big they go. Giles is still quite good, rough postseason aside.

3:12
Who is more likely to get moved, Avi Garcia or Jose Abreu? What would a return look like?
Steve Adams
3:14
I think the Sox are more open to moving Garcia because they do seem to place a premium on Abreu's clubhouse presence and overall leadership capabilities. Return won't be franchise-altering or anything, though. Maybe a solid prospect that slots into the 10-15 range of Chicago's top 30 and another lesser regarded prospect. He only has two years of club control left, and I"m just not fully sold on his offensive outburst given the ridiculous .396 BABIP he ran up in 2017.

3:14
Most likely to be traded, Donaldson, Pillar, or Stroman?
Steve Adams
3:14
Can I choose none of the above? I choose none of the above.

I fully expect the Jays to try to contend in 2018.

Any idea who will become this year's poster boy for a ghastly F. A. overpay
Steve Adams
3:15
Eric Hosmer?
Bill
3:15
Do the Yank s say good-bye to Todd Frazier and go with Headley at 3B for the first two months then turn to G. Torres?
Steve Adams
3:16
I do think Frazier signs elsewhere. They could try to move Headley this winter as well (they want to get under the luxury tax) and go with Torreyes/Andujar at 3B early on as well. They have options. (And Headley is far more movable than Ellsbury)

AL MVP?  Gotta be Altuve.  Right?
Steve Adams
3:19
It's still a toss-up between him and Judge -- I think it's close enough that there's no clearly right or wrong case. Without a huge amount of research, my inclination is that I'd personally lean Altuve ever so slightly, but if you picked Judge I wouldn't put up a fight one bit.  And if I had a ballot, I'd spend countless hours diving further into the matter and agonizing over the decision -- but I do not, so I will not dedicate that time and energy ha.
Both are great. Both were roughly 8-WAR players. Both are deserving.

Is Tillman, Cashner and Santiago considered to be the probably outcome to the Orioles rotation need? and if that's the case what would that cost them?
Steve Adams
3:20
I don't know why that specific trio would be considered likely. There are countless ways the Orioles can proceed. And I think the odds of all three passing a Baltimore physical this offseason seem nonexistent given their previous medical issues.

3:21
If Ian Kinsler were traded to the Brewers, what kind of return might the Tigers expect to receive in return?  A prospect in their 10-20 range and a flyer?
Steve Adams
3:21
A prospect that lands in Detroit's Top 10-20 range and a flyer? If so, yes. If you're saying a prospect from the other team's top 10-20, that'd depend on the organization with which they're trading.
Bret
3:22
Do the Cubs bring back Justin Wilson, or do they send him elsewhere and try to recoup some value this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:22
It'd be weird if they decided that 17 innings proved him to be a lost cause. His complete lack of control in Chicago was concerning, sure, but he'll still be very affordable.
BREWERMANIA!!!

Think the Crew will make any more significant adds at 2B or will they go with Sogard/Villar, especially since they have some Middle IF prospects moving up in the system?
