How bad do you think the Tigers will be next season?
Steve Adams
3:48
Among the worst teams in the league and in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick, though that'll be somewhat by design. The AL Central is going to be very bad next season... good news for the Indians and Twins, I suppose.

Should I trade grichuk/piscotty for bullpen support or a starter in case I don't give Lynn a qo or he rejects his qo?
Steve Adams
3:49
Lynn will (or should) get a QO, and if he gets it, he is rejecting.

Don't box yourself into thinking "Piscotty/Grichuk will be traded for X." Explore the market, see the best someone is willing to offer and act accordingly. I think they could be part of a package for a more impactful OF bat or for some pitching help. Differing teams will have interest, and they'll have different commodities to offer.

Do I have a job come Nov 1
Steve Adams
3:50
My guess -- and it is a total guess -- is that he does not. If he played a role in the violations, he has to be gone. And if he was truly oblivious, isn't that worse? I don't see how he can stay.

Which managerial firing were you most shocked by?
Steve Adams
3:51
Girardi, Baker and Mackanin were all surprising to me -- probably in that order.

What would a Charlie Blackmon extension look like given his age?
Steve Adams
3:52
I think he's too close to a mammoth free-agent payday to be extended at this point. One year left, and he just keeps getting better.

3:53
do I give Tanaka an extra 2 years at 22 Mil to keep him as a Yanks
Steve Adams
3:53
I think he can do a bit better than 5/89 total. More like 5/100 or even a bit north on the AAV. Also don't expect the Yankees to aggressively pursue retaining him since they're pretty hell-bent on getting south of the luxury tax border.

Does Mike Fiers have any trade value?
Steve Adams
3:56
I don't imagine he'll be an insanely hot commodity, but he has a track record as a serviceable back-end starter, and his projected arb price of $5.7MM isn't all that big. Derek Holland and Tyson Ross signed for $6MM last winter. Fiers could sign for a lower number than his projection given the risk of a non-tender, and at that point maybe you're looking at 5 to 5.25 million for a guy with some swing-and-miss ability and three straight 150+ IP seasons. Someone will take that shot.
3:57
Return won't be great, though.

Will the Pirates 1)try to contend by acquiring talent 2) try to contend by standing pat or 3) wholesale do-over?
Steve Adams
3:58
As ever with the Pirates (and other low-budget teams) it won't be so cut and dry. The Bucs traded Mark Melancon in the middle of a Wild Card race. They'll make similar decisions this winter based on players' proximity to free agency. I'd imagine there's a strong chance they deal McCutchen but reallocate his salary elsewhere -- taking chances on hard-throwing SPs with ground-ball tendencies as well as some under-the-radar bullpen candidates.

Who plays third base and corner outfield for the Braves next year?
Steve Adams
4:00
My predictions would be Mike Moustakas and "I have no idea because trading Kemp and Kakes is extremely difficult so at least one of the two will still be around."
BRYAN

The A's say they may trade or at least explore a trade of Ryon Healy a young power hitting 1st/3rd baseman. IF the A's do trade him, would he not be perfect for what Mo and the Cardinals? The Cardinals are looking for a young core power hitter. He can play 1st for the Cardinals. He has 5 years before free agency and has hit 38 home runs in a year and i think batted 275? Cardinals have lots of young pitching and lots, lots of young outfielders. Looks like a great fit for both?
Steve Adams
4:02
He also doesn't walk much, and those 38 HR came in 888 PAs, so you can't expect that output in a single season. He could be a low-OBP 30 HR guy, but homers are up leaguewide, and that's not all that great of an asset when you factor lack of defensive/baserunning value. There's a reason the A's are willing to shop him around a bit. Maybe he's a Plan C or Plan D in STL, but I think the Cardinals will be looking much bigger. They already have one power bat that probably won't crack a .300 OBP in Paul DeJong

4:02
Will there be a robust trade market for Matt Adams?
Steve Adams
4:03
There will not. The free-agent market is already flooded with 1B options, as is the corner trade market.

4:04
teheran for ian happ? both meet a need. could it happen?
Steve Adams
4:05
Happ has more value and more control remaining, as far as I'm concerned. Cubs might disagree, but Teheran's season was pretty crappy overall.

is their a maximum lenght on contracts? If not why wouldn't a team like LA extend Kershaw by adding a couple years at with low base salary knowing he's going to opt out and if he doesn't it'll be due to career ending injury.
Steve Adams
4:07
There's no maximum length. The Dodgers wouldn't do that because Kershaw would never agree to add a couple of seasons with a low base. Why would he do that? I'm not sure I'm understanding this question correctly, honestly, but there's no way he'd ever go for it.

over/under on a one year, 6 million deal for me this offseason?
Steve Adams
4:07
Sounds about right.

Heyman and other "experts" still claim SF Giants in the lead for Stanton???  How can that be?  Whom do the Giants have of value they could include ina trade for Stanton?
Steve Adams
4:09
I don't buy the Stanton to SF talk, personally. I'm sure someone's saying it and pitching it to these reporters, but there's also the possibility that the Marlins simply want to increase the pressure for the Dodgers to make an actual push.

Projections on what Cain signs for and where?
Steve Adams
4:09
$70-76MM over four years with the Giants or Mariners
Zac
4:09
With the Tigers signing Chris Bosio, does that make them more likely to sign a bounce back pitcher
Steve Adams
4:10
They were going to do it anyway. I don't think it changes much. I like them for Chris Tillman, personally, but there are a number of ways they could go.
4:11
