If Kershaw opts out, are the Yankees the front-runner for his expensive services?
Steve Adams
4:44
I'd call the Dodgers the favorite if/when he opts out.
Billy Hamilton
4:44
Will I be tendered a contract, be non-tendered or dealt away by the Reds this offseason?
Steve Adams
4:45
Bob Castellini has said he hopes Billy is a lifetime Red, so I can't see him being non-tendered or traded.
Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada
4:46
Did Josh Donaldson hurt his future contract with his playoff performance?
Steve Adams
4:46
Three games isn't going to hurt anyone's earning power.
Also, my old coworker John was from Saskatoon, which is a fun city to say AND type. Saskatoon.

What will it take for MLB to send me packing?
Steve Adams
4:47
I wonder how many million fans (and players!) would sign a petition

I'm scared of the terrible moves that Bridich is going to make this winter.  At a minimum, I bet he re-signs DJ to an outrageous deal, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him re-sign Cargo and pick up Parra's option to keep the band together for one more shot in Nolan's walk year.
Steve Adams
4:50
I think LeMahieu will go elsewhere, unless they plan to keep Rodgers in the minors and then move Story to 3B or something once Arenado signs for $300MM+ elsewhere. I cannot fathom thinking it's a good idea to bring Parra or CarGo back

What's the plan? Re-sign wainwright for 8 mil, sign Donaldson for 2/36, then trade j Martinez and Kelly to help rebuild the bullpen
Steve Adams
4:52
I think Wainwright will get a little less and Donaldson will take a one-year deal with a huge AAV ... but generally speaking, I don't find any of those moves to be all that unrealistic. I do think Martinez heads to an AL team. (Twins? Mariners? Rays?)

What can we expect to get in Free Agency?
Steve Adams
4:53
Three years apiece and north of an $8MM AAV probably

If the Yankees get blown out again today, does Cashman and/or Boone immediately go on the "hot seat" next season?
Steve Adams
4:54
Cashman isn't going on the hot seat, period. I don't think Boone would with a loss today, either, but a crappy 2019 season or an early and decisive postseason ousting wouldn't be good for him if they get blown out today

Cut the deadwood? DFA Flores,d’Arnaud, Blevins,Jackson and Reyes...
Steve Adams
4:55
Blevins, A-Jax and Reyes are free agents.
They're not going to DFA Flores, who is a reasonably useful utility player. d'Arnaud, as I said earlier .... I can see him being moved of non-tendered.

Brewers probably aren't triggering their half of Mous' mutual option, but you think they might still bring him back and keep Shaw at 2B?
Steve Adams
4:58
Doubt it. Shaw has historically been a quality defender at third -- that alignment weakens their infield defense in the long run. Could just move Shaw back to 3B and put Schoop at 2B in 2019. Schoop had a crap season, but he's only one year removed from being considered one of the game's most productive second basemen.

In your mind, how far (in players) are the Reds away from competing?  (Remember the Braves of 2017)
Steve Adams
4:59
The Braves had droves of high-end young pitching talent on the way. The Reds do not. I don't think they have a chance in 2019 and maybe not in 2020 either. Maybe Dick Williams can work some offseason magic that'll change my mind, but I don't see it right now.
