I put zero stock in those rumors
Evan

Should the twins focus on rp or sp
Steve Adams
3:59
Why does it need to be one or the other? They need both and will almost certainly add both.

Will Robles be on the Nats' major league roster in 2018?
Steve Adams
4:00
At some point, yeah. Maybe not to open the year though.
Joe

Are the Mets in the running for Lorenzo Cain?
Steve Adams
4:01
I doubt it. I suppose they could try to move Lagares and sign Cain, but their greater needs are in the infield. If they add an OF at all, someone like Jarrod Dyson (to platoon with Lagares and fill in elsewhere as needed) makes more sense than beating the market for one of the most in-demand free agents of the offseason.

Your thoughts of the Justin Upton deal with the Halos? Fair or overpaid?
Steve Adams
4:02
I thought he was going to sign for something like $115MM over five years. They got him at 106, which is reasonable. Last two years of the deal will probably suck, but that's free agency for you. He's young enough that he should be worth the money in at least the first two, probably three years.

If I can only sign one to a career-long contract, who gets my money?? Altuve or Correa?
Steve Adams
4:03
Correa is younger and plays shortstop.
Timothy

Is Mike Minor a fit with the Mets?
Steve Adams
4:04
He's a fit with practically every team in baseball. He'll probably have 20-25 teams show interest and around 10 legitimate suitors. The Mets could be one of them, but I don't think they're going to pay up on the four-year deal I'm envisioning for Minor.
4:05
Part of the reason they traded for Ramos was because they could get an above-average arm on a one-year commitment rather than paying huge dollars over multiple years in free agency.
Barroz

Could the Rockies look to move parra? And if so, what could they get for him? Do you think another team would take him and his entire salary straight up or would the Rockies have to chip in a prospect to facilitate the money movement?
Steve Adams
4:07
I'm sure they have tried and will continue trying to move him. He's not an especially good player despite the shiny batting average. Might get some corner-OF-needing club to take most of the money and hope he can continue hitting outside of Coors (Blue Jays?), but I'm guessing the Rox would need to eat a couple million to make it really seem palatable.

Am I crazy to think the Braves should pony up for Cozart and ask him to shift to 3rd? Throw in a SP and some legit bullpen pieces and they could be a really decent team next. Even better if they can part with Kemp and/or Kakes
Steve Adams
4:09
Cozart as a 3B in Atlanta makes sense to me, yeah, even with Austin Riley progressing through the minors. But casually suggesting that they sign Cozart, an impact starter, acquire multiple 'pen pieces and dump Markakis and/or Kemp is .... ambitious?

If they accomplished 40% of that it'd be a decent offseason.

Ok, I have to wrap up for the week. Thanks, as always, for joining.

Jason Martinez will chat tomorrow night at 6:30pm CT, and Jeff Todd will chat Thursday at 2pm CT. We'll be running at least those three chats, each week, throughout the offseason as we do all year round. You can ask me more questions on Twitter, since there were probably a couple thousand I didn't get to, ha: @Adams_Steve
And thanks for the well wishes about Gizmo -- much appreciated. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week everyone.
