Happy holidays, all! Hope the season has treated you well to this point. Apologies on the delayed start. I neglected to compensate for the time zone change that comes with heading home to the Midwest for the holidays

Hello! Was wondering on your thoughts of jay Bruce coming to the giants?
Steve Adams
3:47
I think it's certainly possible, though it seems a bit like his camp is really trying to play up the Giants based on his preferences. Reports out of the Bay Area aren't as optimistic. I think a center fielder is a better target for them anyhow, personally.

Do u think the cards r done
Steve Adams
3:48
Nah -- I think they'll still look at adding at least another reliever, and I think we'll hear about them kicking the tires on some third basemen despite their current glut of infielders.

Yu destination ?
Steve Adams

My pick has been the Twins for awhile.

January to be a busier month for free agents and trades than usual?
Steve Adams
3:49
I mean, it kind of has to be at this point. December has been unprecedented levels of slow, and these guys need to sign at some point.

What is the hang-up on Cobb? How much is he asking for?
Steve Adams
3:51
Way too much money. $20MM annually per some reports. He has the same representatives as Mike Leake, and if his agents are trying to pitch him as a better option -- that's going to be a tough sell.

Maybe not that he's better -- I'd take Cobb on a per-inning basis, for sure -- but that he's worth that kind of investment. No pitcher with Cobb's lack of durability has ever even been handed a guaranteed four-year deal. Brandon McCarthy is the closest.
Mike Rizzo
3:52
Who should I sign for a 5th starter?  I'm not really serious about rolling AJ Cole and Erick Fedde out there with world series aspirations.
Steve Adams
3:52
Trade for Patrick Corbin!
Billy Eppler
3:52
Anything other moves I should be making? Or at least, any deals I should avoid Arte from making?
Steve Adams
3:52
Bullpen and rotation are still rife with question marks
Jaiden
3:53
Do you think the Dodgers are done?
Steve Adams
3:54
This Dodgers front office is always measured, patient and opportunistic. I'm sure there are forthcoming additions -- and perhaps some weird/creative way to get Kemp off the books.
Michael Hill
3:54
Who plays right field or me?
Steve Adams
3:56
I'd imagine a non-roster player that is already in the org (Braxton Lee?) or a cheap free agent that won't require much of a commitment (Seth Smith, Michael Saunders ... someone like Alex Presley if they want to go way cheaper)
Mark schreiber
3:56
Eric hosmer destination ?
Steve Adams
3:57
At this point I don't see a reason not to pick the Padres. They've been the most interested team, it seems. Royals make sense, and the Rockies seem like an obvious dark horse to loom in the background, but I've got the Padres right now.

Phillies gonna try the one-year deals strategy for one more season, or are they done with that?
Steve Adams
3:58
They already signed Santana for three years, Hunter+Neshek for two
Craig
3:59
Any market you see for Maikel Franco
Steve Adams
3:59
I don't really see the Phillies selling low on him when he was such a big part of their future for so long and had success in the Majors early on
Manny M of the O's

I still don't know if I am staying or going! Any thoughts?
Steve Adams
4:00
I'd bank on him staying -- no team is going to offer a pair of decent MLB-ready arms for him. So either Duquette drops the ask of Machado stays through summer.
Jason S
4:01
Would you rather have Alex Cobb in your rotation or Mike Leake?
Steve Adams
4:01
Am I committing for one year? Sure, Cobb. If we're looking at the next four years, Leake is a better bet to hold up, arm-wise, I'd say.
Nolan Arenado
4:01
will the rockies extend me?
Steve Adams
4:02
I doubt it. I'm sure it'd take $300MM+ at this point, and that's an enormous amount to expect the Rox to consider.
Lance Lynn
4:02
Why is everybody crazy about Cobb? We're the same age and my track record is better
Steve Adams
4:04
Because 2017 Lance Lynn got by largely on BABIP luck. His strikeout, walk, home-run and hard-contact rates all went completely in the wrong direction, and he finished terribly as well. Cobb dominated to close out the year.

I don't love either, but I didn't see much to be encouraged about with Lynn's season outside of him merely staying healthy.
Big Sexy
4:05
Am I going to pitch for anyone this year?
Steve Adams
4:05
I imagine some team will give him a minor league deal yeah.
Norm
4:05
What are your thoughts on Matt Kemp's value as a DH?
Steve Adams
4:06
He was a league-average bat in 2017. When you're rostering a guy for the sole purpose of hitting, "average" isn't a word you want to describe his overall output.
Daniel
4:06
Is there a remote chance the Orioles resign Machado he's a great player why not try?
Steve Adams
4:07
Because most owners would more or less vomit at the notion of a $400MM contract. I don't think there's any chance he stays, and if the Orioles did, they probably wouldn't have been shopping him.

Who will Rockies lock up long term. Blackmon or Arenado?
