What trade makes sense to get Kyle Seager out of Seattle?
Steve Adams
3:00
I've said in the past that I don't see anyone trading for him because of the clause that turns his 2022 club option into a player option if he's dealt.

How do I fit into the picture at Target Field next year?
Steve Adams
3:01
Mixing in as a 1B/DH/LF contributor -- probably spending time both in the Majors and in Triple-A over in St. Paul

Snell and Darvish off the table, how much did Bauer’s price go up?
Steve Adams
3:04
I doubt it did. Few people expected Darvish and Snell to be tradeable early in the winter anyhow. And today's brand of front office tends to set a value on a player and, if he wants more than that, to move on to the next plan. Bauer and Luba might be able to sway an owner directly by putting pressure on them as other options come off the market, but I generally don't think the Padres' moves will impact Bauer's price point.

Musgrove returns as much as Snell because he almost has same surplus value BUT more teams can afford him.  True?
Steve Adams
3:05
Musgrove won't command close to what Snell did, no. He's not as good and is controlled for less time. There's surplus value there, but Snell has more of it than Musgrove.

With Kim gone, am I seriously going to have a Chad Pinder-Tommy La Stella middle INF next year? Cubs and A's both sorry, sad teams whos owners need to be shot into the sun
Steve Adams
3:08
I never thought the A's were likely to sign Kim, and I wonder if they'll even spend enough to keep La Stella. I could see them just waiting to see who is left without a job come March and adding him to the mix. There are far more 2Bs on the market than there are teams looking to spend at 2B.

i think Bauer's value comes down. less teams in need of an ace to bid against each other
Steve Adams
3:09
That was my point -- teams don't "bid" against each other as often as they used to in today's era of data-driven decision making. A lot of clubs are content to just move on to Plan B if a player is asking for more than the hard line at which they cap his future value.

Who is the likeliest to be traded between Castillo, Gray and Suarez?
Steve Adams
3:13
I'd say Gray but still wouldn't call him a slam-dunk to be moved.

Will the Mets release Cano and eat 48 mil. remaining? Don’t need him around the clubhouse
Steve Adams
3:15
I don't expect it to come to that point before Cano gets a chance to play again, nah.
Jackie Bradley Jr.
3:15
Where do I wind up and should I expect a contract in the 3/24M neighborhood?
Steve Adams
3:15
We had him in the 2/16 to 2/22 range
BJ
3:15
Anyone other than Springer getting a 100 mill long term contract this winter?
Steve Adams
3:16
Springer, JTR and if he wants a long-term deal Bauer -- though I'm sure he's still fielding high-AAV short term deals as well.

Rye or Sourdough?
Steve Adams
3:16
Both? I just got a sourdough starter from my brother-in-law yesterday. Pretty excited to start making stuff with that.

Do you see the Marlins regressing this upcoming season? Also, Do you think they will make a splash signing in the bullpen?...ie Hand?
Steve Adams
3:16
I don't think they'll sign a big-name reliever but do expect them to add a couple of veteran 'pen pieces.

Was Urena a decent signing for Detroit? I actually have no idea...
Steve Adams
3:19
There's not a ton to like there, for me. At his best he was an innings eater with a decent ERA and shaky peripherals. Throws hard but doesn't miss bats like you'd expect with his velocity. At a few million bucks it's a fine price, but not sure I'd have gone that route if I were planning to jump the market early on a one-year starter.

Ahmed Rosario for Bryan Buxton? Thoughts?
Steve Adams

Twins wouldn't do that

Could part of the hold-up with Ozuna be that the Bravos are trying to move Inciarte (& half his salary)? With Pache & Acuna, they could tread (Drew) Water(s) until 2022
Steve Adams
3:20
I'm sure Ozuna, like Cruz and Brantley, has little interest in signing until the league makes a definitive declaration about the NL DH in 2021.

McCann only good for one-half of season. All star catcher that ran out of gas. Happy for him though
Steve Adams
3:22
McCann had one bad month (July) in 2019 and has been good otherwise, with huge improvements in hard-hit rate, exit velocity, walk rate, pitch framing ... he's a much better looking player now than he was in Detroit.
3:23
Still surprised he got four years -- I was at 27-30 over three years in our Top 50 predictions and I was the high man on the MLBTR staff -- but the narrative that he tailed off in the second half in 2019 isn't accurate.
3:25
McCann hit .264/.323/.466 in August/September that year. His "decline" was confined to a disastrous three-week stretch in July, after which he rebounded.
3:27
Alright, I have to wrap this up for the week. I'm on vacation next week but will be back the following week for my first chat of 2021. You can ask me more stuff on Twitter if you're so inclined: @Adams_Steve.

Have a safe and happy new year's eve, everyone!
