I know Strasburg did it, which shocked me... but I'd be even more shocked with Bryce
Lou
4:06
Also, Kepler has 5 years of control remaining.
Steve Adams
4:07
Meant to write "4+" in reference to a player that matches up with Archer's own control. My mistake there
Joey T

Marlins Loss total plus or minus 95 losses
Steve Adams
4:07
I'm taking the over on that, especially since I still assume JTR gets moved.

Do Nats have the lux tax space for Odorizzi?
Steve Adams
4:08
They're already over the tax
Whitey Herzog
4:08
Greg Holland to STL, what say you?
Steve Adams
4:08
Makes perfect sense, but ownership has gone on record with the Post-Dispatch and MLB.com downplaying the possibility of spending big on a free-agent reliever.

Twins haven't truly been a threat since they had a capable bat behind the plate (Mauer). Any possibility they go after Realmuto?
Steve Adams
4:09
I'm sure they, like a number of teams, would love to acquire Realmuto. I do think they're happy with the defense that Castro brought in 2017, though, and it's worth noting that his bat was better than that of a league-average catcher last year as well.
4:10
He's not a star, but he's solid for them. It's not all that fair to compare any catcher to Mauer, who for a few years was among the best all-around players at the position the game has ever seen (before back surgery, knee issues, concussions, etc. broke him)
Well -- "broke" is an aggressive term... Mauer quietly had a pretty nice 2017 season himself.
Jake Arrieta
4:11
Is is safe to assume I'm getting less than Yu?
Steve Adams
4:12
I don't see how he tops 126 at this point, but Boras has pulled plenty of rabbits out of his hat in the past. I still say no.

Cobb and Lynn.  Bigger risk and more upside?  Go...
Steve Adams
4:13
On a per-inning basis, I'll take Cobb. But I'd easily bet on Lynn to give more innings.

Is this thing on??
Steve Adams

1375 participants at present, and that's down from 20 minutes ago. Can't possibly get to everyone -- apologies.

Is my all-star career over?
Steve Adams
4:14
I don't think you have any more ALl-Star games left in the future, but career itself isn't over, nah.

How dare Cashman ban me!
Steve Adams

Gossage unintentionally making himself the biggest punchline of Spring Training is the best annual tradition in baseball. His "old man yells at cloud" schtick gets more preposterous every year.

He is the consummate buffoon.

4:16
Do Matt Olson and Matt Chapman finish top 3 in gold glove voting this year?
Steve Adams
4:16
Chapman probably does.

Are the pirates done making moves?
Steve Adams
4:16
Still think they'll add some bargain-bin free agents on a big league deal or two

How come no one values the opt-out and NTC when discussing Darvish's contract? It's not really a bargain once you consider those two add-ons
Steve Adams
4:19
His opt-out has value, but less so than opt-outs for younger free agents. Darvish will be looking at 4/81 as a 33-year-old, after all -- that's tough to beat on the open market at that age, but I do think there's at least a plausible scenario where he takes that chance, and it definitely adds value.

We've had Matt Swartz, who created our arb projection model and has a PhD in Economics, attempt to assign monetary value to opt-out clauses in the past. I believer we'll be doing so this year as well once the big-name free agents have signed, so keep an eye out for that.
