Is there a point where Chapman signs a 1 year rebuild contract, a la Marcus Semien?
Steve Adams

I imagine it'd be more akin to a lighter version of the Correa deal -- three years with an opt out after each season. Not at the same $35MM AAV that Correa had, but 3/75 or something.

Why isn't there a lot of chatter about Spencer Turnbull?
Steve Adams

Rough few years with the Tommy John and a shaky/injury-marred return this season, but he's a nice low-cost SP flier for a team in need, I agree.

Does Eddie Rosario get a major league deal? Haven

I feel like he'll get a few million bucks somewhere yeah. Padres could use a LF. One year, $5MM or so there makes enough sense to me

Does Witt Jr. signing portend a long-term change in FO approach, or do you think it's more of a move for political good will?
Steve Adams

I think they just really love Witt, but I also think people are overstating the length of the contract. The Royals took on a ton of risk to lock in three free-agent seasons, and Witt gets the first crack at opting out. It's much different than, say, the Mariners' deal with Julio Rodriguez where after seven years, they have the right to pick up an eight- or 10-year club option (basically just re-extend him) -- the size of which is based on MVP voting throughout the first several years of the deal.

That contract creates a very real possibility that Julio is a Mariner for life. Witt is either a lock to opt out, or he'll struggle to the extent that it becomes a contract the Royals don't actually want on the books anymore.

Probably not a take on the contract a lot of Royals fans will like, haha -- sorry. I like the contract more for the player than the team.

Sometime during spring training we'll get it published

Are the Nats the worst team in baseball or just the most irrelevant?
Steve Adams
2:07
I saw PECOTA has them as the bottom team today. I'd have the A's and Rockies below them, but I don't think they're going to be very good this year. Even like 75 wins would surprise me.

(Feel free to save this, Nats fans, and throw it in my face later this season if I am egregiously wrong, haha)

Could the Angels get Luzardo for Ward, Thaiss, and Suarez?
Steve Adams
2:08
If they could do that, they'd have done it awhile ago. No
