If they were willing to meet anyone's asking price (e.g. Gio) they'd have done so by now. I think there's some wisdom to it, but I suppose that'd basically leave them with one rotation spot to evaluate their current younger guys as they filter on up.

No there needs to be more access to pregame stuff. You may not want to watch Aaron Judge bat 4x in 3 hours, but you'll watch him take bp. That gets more people tuned in.
Steve Adams
4:35
Possibly, but then you're asking that person who put in extra time to watch BP now also stick around for a 3-hour game. Suddenly you're saying "Hey watch 4 hours of baseball!" That's a lot. I mean, I do it regularly, but I'm a rare breed

I feel bad for the teams that are out of the running for the playoffs and they can't bring in their prospects in September. I always enjoy seeing players get of cup of coffee and experience can't believe the players association agreed to that

If you're a team in that spot, you can likely find a way to make room. Plus, look at the White Sox (Eloy) and Jays (Vlad Jr.) -- the very best of prospects aren't being promoted in September anyway.

I think we'll see an increase in veterans being placed on outright waivers in August and September now. Those players are going to get their money anyway, and those teams can spin it as a means of trying to send that vet to a playoff roster when they're really just opening the door for a younger guy to get at-bats/innings.
Phils OF Defense
4:38
With Cutch and Harper, is the Phillies' OF defense going from 2018 "atrocious" to 2019 "just bad"?
Steve Adams
4:40
Depends on what you think of Bryce's defense. People seem to forget that he ended the 2017 season with a pretty gross-looking knee injury that everyone was sure was an ACL tear when it happened.

I think it's far more reasonable to believe that Harper, typically a solid defensive right fielder, was hindered by a less-than-100-percent knee in 2018 than it is to think that he just inexplicably became a terrible defender at age 25.
4:41
And Cutch seemed fine in the corner last year -- I don't think he'll be a huge liability as long as he sticks to left field.

Padres appear to have made no attempt to resolve their outfield situation. What gives? Is there no interest in Myers from other teams at all?
Steve Adams
4:42
No one wants anything to do with that Myers deal.

I always expected whatever moves they make would come at the end of camp. Never know how injuries will shake out, and you want to take as much time as possible to both make your own internal evaluations and also showcase the guys you have to other teams.

The White Sox have the worst won-loss record in all of baseball this spring. Is there any reason to think they can improve on last year's 100-loss season?
Steve Adams
4:43
Eventually they'll have Eloy, Cease and a few others in the Majors. Rodon should (well, could) be healthier.
Acuna Corrector
4:44
An 8 year deal for acuna would only 2 free agent years, not the 3 you said. 6 years of team control left.

Question was regarding a contract after the current season -- not one signed tomorrow

Who has the largest arms in the world, me or Luke Voit?. Do u see any chance for Greg Byrd to make the opening season roster?

Saw a video of Tyler O'Neill benching something laughably heavy earlier this spring, and can't leave Holliday out of the equation. But none of those guys are Big Poppa Pump.

Ok, I've got to head out. Thanks for chatting! I'm on Twitter @Adams_Steve for more questions. Tim chats tomorrow, Jeff on Thursday and Mark on Sunday! Have a good week everyone
