should nick anderson be declared the official closer
Steve Adams
2:28
I doubt the Rays will name an official closer. They'll just play matchups based on who is rested, which opponents are coming to the plate, the pitches against which opponents thrive, pinch-hitting options who are available on the opponents' bench, etc.
2:29
(Side note: there's a lot more "strategy" in baseball than when to pinch-hit for the pitcher in the National League)

Do you play mlb the show?
Steve Adams
2:30
I was a Show DISCIPLE ... back in 2006. It has been awhile. I bought '19 for like $7 at some point and have played like 30 minutes of it.

How dumb were the Marlins to trade me? ANd it's not hindsight bias bc I had a really good career in the minors and with my time with the Fish in the bigs.
Steve Adams
2:32
I think they just really love Jazz Chisholm and believe he can be a cornerstone middle infielder. Gallen has been quite good through his first 27 starts but pitchers break and he was never really billed as a potential ace.

I still raised an eyebrow at the trade and thought to myself that I'd have held onto him, but I understand the thought process. I also know it's one of those moves we can't judge for years still.

Why is everyone writing off Oakland? East Coast bias?
Steve Adams
2:32
"Everyone" implying who? I certainly haven't.

What if both King Felix and Matt Harvey return to something like their previous form? How much could they bring back in trades?
Steve Adams
2:34
I would put the chances of that happening at about 0.001%, but if the Orioles were to somehow get prime-level King Felix and Dark Knight at scarcely more than league minimum, the returns would be pretty solid. Not franchise re-defining -- they'd be selling like 10 starts of each and every team would be scared of a breakdown -- but they could pull out a couple guys who were immediately added to their top 5-8 prospects probably.

I understand wanting to have payroll flexibility, but doesn't roster stability have some merit as well? Or am I too old school for today's environment? (If so, get off my lawnn!!  LOL)
Steve Adams
2:36
I don't think today's front offices value stability as much as they did even 10 years ago, and most fans have generally come to be ok with turnover. It does lead to more excitement on the hot stove front, I suppose, which helps get through the long winters without MLB

Who will be the next Ranger to be traded?
Steve Adams
2:37
They'll probably be shopping lots of guys this summer. Gallo, Joely Rodriguez, Folty all come to mind as possibilities.
Gallen, Zac
2:37
Why did you raise only one eyebrow? Do you think you're The Rock? My trade wasn't worth raising BOTH of them?
Steve Adams
2:38
I mean, I'm 35 so I was definitely caught up in the late 90s/early 2000s attitude-era wrestling.

Do you have a mobile app? If so, what is it called?
Steve Adams
2:38
Sure do -- just search for Trade Rumors in the App Store or Google Play
2:39
There are links to download it on the homepage on desktop as well, and we do occasional posts plugging it (this isn't the most recent example but it popped up atop google):

Who would you try and extend first C. Seager or Bellinger
Steve Adams
2:40
Seager is a free agent next winter, so probably him, but they're both Boras-represented All-Stars who are already into arbitration.

I hate perpetuating the idea that Boras clients never sign extensions -- it's not true; Xander Bogaerts is a very recent example -- but it does unequivocally reduce the likelihood.

iOS or Android?
Steve Adams
2:40
It's on both

Is JBJ done asking for the moon?  Don't you think his ask was way too high for his inconsistent bat and age?
Steve Adams
2:43
If he was really seeking four years and $50MM+, yeah I think that's more than I would expect him to command. But was it too much when you consider that Cain and Fowler got 5/80 not long ago? Or that Moustakas got 4/64? It's not like he was seeking Springer money. I don't think four years was outrageous. Unlikely? Sure. Outrageous? Nah.

Shouldn’t the Pirates pick up a guy like Puig and hope they can flip him for a piece if he plays well?
Steve Adams
2:44
Puig played pretty well up through the 2019 season and hasn't signed a contract since. I don't think trade demand is going to be there.

So if Dodgers cant sign Seager what do they do at shortstop
Steve Adams
2:45
I didn't say they can't sign him, I just said I doubt he signs an extension this spring. They'll be in the mix for him next winter, I'm sure, and if not there are buckets of other free agents out there: Javier Baez, Carlos Correa, Francisco Lindor, Trevor Story, Marcus Semien, Andrelton Simmons

Are yall closing shop?
Steve Adams
2:46
If we were going to close the site or the subscription model, Tim would've done so in a different manner than as a comment hosted off the TradeRumors domain.

Someone posed as him in a comment on a poll hosted at another web site; I'm surprised anyone paid any attention to it or contacted us about it, haha, but here we are. No ... we are not closing down MLBTR or halting the Front Office service.

Why aren’t the Angels in on a guy like Jake Odorizzi?
Steve Adams
2:47
They are. Just not at three years and $13-15MM annually.

Ohtani is the answer to "who wins Comeback Player other than Mancini"?
Steve Adams
2:48
Would take a pretty major workload on the mound, I think, and I don't think the Angels will afford him that chance.
He'll pitch, but his innings will be monitored pretty heavily.

Is Amir Garrett the answer for the Reds at closer?
Steve Adams
2:48
Garrett is really good. I can see him handling that role well

How many errors for Ozuna this year? Over/under fielding percentage of 0.95?
