Preaching to the choir, my friend.

are preseason chats busier than regular season?
Steve Adams
2:01
Depends on more than offseason vs. in-season. November and December are very full. Most free agents still out there. Lots of trade chatter. March, not as much, but a lot of questions on last-minute moves, payroll, camp battles, late injuries, etc.

In-season gets slower for most of April/May. By July, these are packed up again.

But even in slower times, we still tend to get, say, 400 to 700 people in a chat at a given moment (526 right now). Busier times, we'll get 3-4x that much though.
Which is to gently remind: if I don't answer your question, it's not because I hate your or am biased against your team, haha

Do the orioles get Alcantara for hjerstad?
Steve Adams
2:02
Not 1-for-1, no. But Kjerstad as a piece of a package to get Sandy? Sure.

Halos lack depth in OF, should they trade for a CF or will it be Adell and Moniak?
Steve Adams
2:03
Not many (any) real CF upgrades out there to trade for. I expect plenty of Moniak

Is it possible, given the number of clubs who played their offseasons very close to the vest (which is a nice way of saying that ownership were cheap SOBs), that there is a division where the winner is no more than a game or two over 500?
Steve Adams
2:05
Nah I think even in the "lesser" divisions (AL Central, NL Central ... maybe the AL West?) there's enough talent that winners will at least be at 86-88 games. Most of those groups have one "we're not even trying" or "we're trying but you wouldn't know it based on our moves" team to beat up on, too.
Why Brew Crew?

Why did Quintana decline the Bucs for less with Milwaukee?

We still don't know full details on the offers. If Pittsburgh offered 5.5MM flat and the Brewers offered 4.25 with incentives to take it to 7, for instance -- that's preferable. Could also be about competitive outlook. Could be that there was someone on the coaching staff during Q's last run with PIT that he didn't love working with. Maybe he was just convinced he'd get 6-7 guaranteed from a team that ultimately declined to make the offer, and now this was the best available. We can speculate a million different ways, but when we're talking the difference of $1MM to $1.5MM in guaranteed money for a 36-year-old who's already banked $83MM in career earnings, there are other factors that'll come into play

Do the Marlins even have any current day big leaguers that came over from these trades: Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto, Arraez?
Steve Adams

Alcantara came from the Ozuna trade. (As did Zac Gallen, whom they flipped for Jazz Chisholm, who turned into Agustin Ramirez, who'll probably debut this year)

But generally, they have very little to show for those trades.

What's your take on Huff versus Stassi as back-up to Bailey? Thanks Steve.
Steve Adams
2:12
Give me Stassi -- better defender, and when he's hit in the past, he's done so without all the BABIP smoke and mirrors Huff has needed. Lot of health question marks with Stassi, but I'd still lean that way.
