Chat With MLBTR's Steve Adams: 5/25/18
powered byJotCast
Straight Up G Men
3:16
Phil Hughes for Hanley Ramierez in a bad contract swap?
Steve Adams
3:16
Don't really see why the Twins would want to take on the extra money or why the Red Sox would want to give a roster spot to Hughes.
They'll both just be released.
Quick Question
3:17
"Percentage chance Manny Machado ends up with the Cubs..." I'll take "100 divided by 30, +/- 10" percent.
Steve Adams
3:17
Would have to be 100 divided by 29!

O's aren't dealing him to themselves.
Drizzle
3:18
Should I keep Tyler Oneill or Juan Soto on my fantasy squad?
Steve Adams
3:18
Give me Soto over O'Neill.
Wiffle ball star

Is there a slower guy in baseball than Victor Matinez?
Steve Adams
3:19
Nelson Cruz has the slowest sprint speed, per Statcast, I believe
Though he's dealing with a foot injury
Drew
3:19
Do you think the Nats will re-sign Lind to bolster their depth?
Steve Adams
3:19
Probably goes somewhere with a better path to the Majors than one blocked by Adams, Reynolds and eventually Zim

Premature, I know... but, who do you foresee in the World Series this year? ... and who wins it all?
Steve Adams
3:20
I said 'Stros/Nats pre-season -- may as well stubbornly stick to that now.

3:20
Did the M's get screwed on the Tyler O'Neill-Marco Gonzales swap?
Steve Adams
3:21
Marco Gonzales has been really good this season -- low-4.00s ERA with better fielding-independent marks ... misses bats, induces grounders, doesn't walk many. He's not going to be an ace, but I think he's a useful rotation member for them for several years.
O'Neill gets more prospect love because he's younger, but the Mariners traded the type of player -- lots of power, corner OF, lots of K's and questionable OBP skills if he doesn't hit for average -- that is easiest to find on a market which has devalued corner bats
3:22
To get a player that is difficult to find -- a seemingly MLB-ready rotation piece.
I'm not disparaging O'Neill, who may well be a star, but I can see why the Mariners made the trade. I tend to roll my eyes at the notion that said trade was any kind of fleecing.
It may well go down that way, but it's certainly not right now.
Homer Bailey
3:23
Am I this really this bad now?
Steve Adams
3:23
You've had a whole lot of surgeries and injuries.
Not optimistic about any kind of rebound.
3:24
Which is too bad because when he signed the deal, I was all on board the Bailey train and thought he was well on his way to a breakout. Then his arm exploded.
Not a vlad jr question
3:24
Jays are out of the postseason picture right?
Steve Adams
3:25
They're 4 games under .500 and 6 back of a Wild Card spot. They have a tough upcoming schedule, but there aren't many teams totally out of it right now.
Jays are no exception. Not expecting them to make the postseason, sure, but out of it? Nah.
3:26
Ok, I have to wrap this up for the week. Thanks for joining me, as always. Next chat will be Tuesday at 2pm CT. Have a fun (and safe!) Memorial Day weekend, and feel free to ask me other things on Twitter if you're so inclined: @Adams_Steve
