Greetings all! We'll get going in a minute or so here but feel free to start asking questions right away
Cubs

If healthy could Stroman get moved at the deadline?
Steve Adams
2:10
I don't see why they wouldn't listen to offers, but it'd be a little odd to sign him to a contract of that magnitude and flip him a few months later. It's not a great look when you're making your pitch to future big-name free agents. Stroman's also not pitching all that well and has been hurt, so it's hard to see someone ponying up an offer the Cubs feel they can't pass up.

When to the Pirates fire Derek Shelton? Why not go after a proven winning manager
Steve Adams
2:11
This Pirates team would be terrible with Derek Shelton, Joe Maddon, Dusty Baker or the almighty Lou Brown himself managing it. They brought Shelton in because he has a strong reputation with regard to managing young players and player development, and he's going to get the chance to work with their expected young core.

What happens with Joey Bart? Does he languish in AAA, get moved, do Giants give up and focus on other options?
Steve Adams
2:14
I imagine he'll get a good run in Triple-A to try to turn things around, but he's still only had 225 MLB plate appearances. It's not at all uncommon for players (especially catchers) to need more time than that. I'd be inclined to discount pretty much all of his 2020 plate appearances, too, as he was practically making the jump from A-ball when they Giants called him up out of necessity because Posey opted out of the year.

when does the trade dam break???
Steve Adams
2:15
Probably about a week to five days out from the deadline. There are a handful of early deals every year, but as fun as it would be, I wouldn't hold out hope for a late June/early July deluge of moves.

The absolute best fit in a trade to Milwaukee is (fill in the blank)
Steve Adams
2:17
If we're ignoring reality, Willson Contreras. Narvaez is fine, but the Brewers need to improve against lefties and Willson can crush them. Nelson Cruz is a more realistic option who'd make a huge difference, though I don't know if the Brewers are willing to move on from McCutchen just yet.

So with Behuler out any chance Dodger MGT makes a call to Oakland?
Steve Adams
2:18
They'd have been calling Oakland regardless. Every contending club is going to at least gauge the asking price when a pitcher like Montas is available.
fascinating
2:20
Who will be the biggest name SP to move prior to the deadline? Feels like slim pickings on the starter front.
Steve Adams
2:23
Frankie Montas is the obvious one. I'm still not convinced the Reds will trade Luis Castillo, because the Reds are weird. Fair number of rental options available... Martin Perez, Quintana, Miley, Smyly...

I'll be most interested to see if some contending clubs move some starting pitching, though. I just wrote about this at length for our Front Office subscribers actually. A team like the Padres, desperately wanting to add some offense at a few spots but with no payroll capacity and an uber-deep rotation, could move someone from the current rotation (Snell? Clevinger?) as a means of freeing luxury room and/or acquiring a bat from another club.
2:24
There are a handful of win-now/contending teams that I could see moving some big league-caliber arms
Paul
2:24
Here me out… a deal centred around Kyle Tucker for Alejandro Kirk. Does it work?
Steve Adams
2:24
Not if you're the Astros.
I'm sure the Jays love that idea.

Twins should trade for David Robertson. What do you think?
Steve Adams
2:25
Doesn't need to be Robertson specifically. Twins should just trade for a quality reliever -- probably a couple of them.

Does Oneil Cruz get the call up on the next Pirates homestand?
Steve Adams
2:25
I think there's a decent chance of that at this point.

Tigers will be sellers.  Fullmer?  What should the team expect in return.  Any interest in Grossman or Schoop?
Steve Adams
2:27
Most of the Tigers' bullpen is going to draw interest, not just Fulmer (though he's probably the best combination of readily available and actually good). But they also Andrew Chafin who's basically a pending free agent (second year of his deal is a player option). They also have Joe Jimenez throwing well, Wily Peralta has been decent. I'd even listen on Soto, but I bet the Tigers will stop short of that since he's controlled another three years and they want to compete ASAP.
2:28
Short of Alex Lange and I guess Will Vest, though, I don't see a big reason to completely take anyone off the table.

GIants could use Contreras right about now...
Steve Adams
2:28
There are probably 10 teams that could use Contreras right about now. I doubt the Cubs trade him before July at the earliest, though.

Corey Dickerson for amir Garrett straight up ?
Steve Adams
2:29
In this scenario, why do the Royals want a couple months of a more expensive, underperforming outfielder who'll be a free agent at the end of the year?

2:29
Which Contreras? Can't have Wilson...
Steve Adams
2:30
I firmly believe that if you're thinking Willson is still a Cub after the deadline, you're going to have a rough day at some point in the next seven weeks.

Will Ward be back in the lineup in time for this big match up tonight?
Steve Adams
2:30
He said he expects to be activated today. Still no formal announcement from the Angels

2:31
Can Adam Frazier draw solid pitching help for Seattle?
Steve Adams
2:32
He's a fairly expensive second baseman having the worst offensive season of his career (excluding the bizarro 2020 season) and he'll be a free agent at the end of the year.
He's not going to draw them any real immediate help, no.

Most likely to be traded if Castillo isn’t moving?
Steve Adams
2:33
If they hold onto Castillo, I assume they'll hold onto Mahle as well. That doesn't leave a lot to market to other clubs. Naquin would be a decent pickup for a team like the Jays (upgrade over Bradley Zimmer as a fourth OF/lefty bat). Drury is an easy flip to a team looking for some bench help.
2:35
You could try to find a taker for Pham, but I don't imagine he's helping his trade value with the whole fantasy football saga -- entertaining as it is to follow along with, ha Maybe Mike Minor shows he's healthy enough to draw a marginal return
