Decent outcome for both teams.
Hunter Renfroe
2:52
Was I a steal or what?
Steve Adams
2:53
Real nice signing, and good on him to flip the narrative after so many wanted to run him out of Boston after he struggled in April.
Nicholas Castellanos
2:53
Any chance that I'm with the Reds next year? If not then where and for whom?
Steve Adams
2:53
He could be with the Reds, but it'll take them extending him or signing him to a new contract after he opts out.
White Sox Fan
2:53
What about bringing back Nate Jones?
Steve Adams
2:54
Can't hurt on a minor league deal, but they'll probably have their sights set on a bit more than that
Royals
2:55
What will the Royals do at the deadline? How much rope does the new(er) ownership group give to Dayton Moore?
Steve Adams
2:56
I don't see Moore going anywhere unless he wants to leave/retire. Royals will shop guys like Taylor, Dyson, Soler, Holland around. Maybe Mike Minor or Carlos Santana. I don't think they're going to trade away any long-term pieces. I expect them to keep Duffy. And I think, as I mentioned with the Mariners before, it's plausible that we see them try to acquire a pitcher or bat who is controllable into 2022 (ideally beyond).

would anyone take Sano?  and the return?
Steve Adams
2:58
If you're asking "would anyone take this guy," then the return is going to be pretty much nothing. I don't think anyone would be too jazzed about paying Sano $10MM next year with the way he's struggled since 2020. Best hope for the Twins is just that he keeps on a similar heater to the one he's had since late May/early June and wins them some games with his bat for now.

Seeing all these Astros in the final vote makes me wonder, which fanbase is the best at stuffing the All-Star ballot box?
Steve Adams
2:59
Royals fans took the whole voting process over a few years back.

Who do you think the Dodgers will try to acquire at the deadline? Seems like the might need another starter, late inning reliever and possibly another bench bat.
Steve Adams
3:00
Yeah, it's kind of wacky to think the Dodgers of all teams, with the depth they had early on, might need another starter, but I can see them going that route. Bullpen is probably a bigger priority, and yeah the bench is a little suspect. Probably would go for a left-handed bat

Will Matt Boyd still have trade value after his trip on the IL?
Steve Adams
3:01
Yeah -- if he can make a couple starts and look healthy. He'd still have value even if he didn't, of course, but I wonder if the Tigers would just hold him until the winter in the event that he's still on the IL come July 30.

3:02
any candidates come to mind of team who would trade players with the main motivation being salary relief?
Steve Adams
3:02
If I were the GM on a rebuilding team, I'd be seeing what the Yankees would give me to take Aaron Hicks off their hands or what the Phillies would give me to take Scott Kingery. Both of those clubs are close to the luxury tax. Neither wants to cross it. Both have glaring needs they want to address at the deadline but limited maneuverability because of the CBT.

Can you envision a scenario where Freddie accepts a QA ?
Steve Adams
3:03
Nope
Bob
3:03
Does dickerson stay with the jays through the end of the season? Could you see him being flipped again
Steve Adams
3:04
He's not even healthy right now. I think they hope he'll come back and be a nice LH complement to their all-RH outfield. I don't think they'll move him again.

3:04
When do you think we'll see the trade activities pick up?
Steve Adams
3:05
There was a trade this morning and the D-backs/White Sox are talking -- I'd say we're seeing the beginning of it.
If you're talking when will start seeing a trade almost every day ... probably not till the week of the deadline.

Haniger for crochet who says no?
Steve Adams
3:05
Don't think the White Sox would give up five years of Crochet.
Depressed Phillies Fan
3:06
If the Phillies bullpen continues to torpedo the season, is Philly selling at the deadline?
Steve Adams
3:06
If they fall much further out of the race, I can see it, but that's not their current expectation or mindset.
Mr Mo
3:06
Cards need an OF as bad or worse than a SP.T orF?
Steve Adams
3:06
They need starting pitching more.
CBA
3:07
Do you think adjusting the luxury tax threshold and penalties will come up during cba talks?
Steve Adams
3:07
So many people thought the MLBPA didn't push hard enough to move it north last time, and that's more or less proven to be true. I think they'll try to push it much higher north or rework the system as we know it.

Who do you think the Indians will acquire at the deadline to not only help them now but possibly in the future?
Steve Adams
3:12
They could use some controllable OF help. If they really want to go for long-term help, and be aggressive about it, they should be working hard for a Ketel Marte, Bryan Reynolds or Cedric Mullins. I'd be curious to see them try to pry Reynolds and Mitch Keller away from Pittsburgh to try to fix Mitch, but the cost on that would be pretty prohibitive.
Nolan Gorman
3:12
Would I get the Cards Bieber?
Steve Adams
3:12
Gorman alone? No.
Ken
3:12
Jays just getting started?
Steve Adams
3:13
I'd expect another couple of trades from them yeah
