Will I make my anticipated return today?
Steve Adams
3:41
Cards just announced Molina has been activated about 60 seconds ago.

Why did the Pirates elect to draft another outfielder when pitching seems like the obvious concern?
Steve Adams
3:43
Because no team MLB drafts for organizational need with their top few picks. All of these guys are at LEAST 1.5 years way, and only a select few will make it to the Majors in 2019. You take the guy who you believe to be the best on the board at your slot, regardless of position.

I'm a big college football fan, how do you see the Kyler Murray situation unfolding?
Steve Adams
3:46
Hard to believe they'd have taken him if they didn't think they could sign him. His slot value is nearly $5MM, and the A's have already taken one college senior since then, plus another pretty big reach (at least as far as pre-draft rankings go) on their sixth-round pick. If they're going to save money in the middle rounds, they could go over that $4.8MM slot value.

My guess is he signs. That's a whole lot of cash to walk away from.

Who wins a HR derby between the MLBTR staff??
Steve Adams
3:48
Jeff had the longest playing career of any of us. Got to be him.
"Career" ha
3:49
poor choice of words -- not as if any of us ever sniffed playing professionally ... but Jeff played for a long time and still plays competitive rec league ball with a bunch of other 30-somethings. He'd certainly beat me, anyhow.

Could you see the Yankees prying DeGrom from the Mets for Frazier and some young arms?
Steve Adams
3:50
Those two teams virtually never trade with one another, and I don't think the Mets are going to move deGrom
Charles Finley
3:51
Not much out there for pitching - could the Twins move Lynn now that he's not walking literally everyone?
Steve Adams
3:52
He walked five in his most recent outing. I don't think anyone's champing at the bit to get him.

Are my Halos gonna turn it around?  Machado to them/over under 50%
Steve Adams
3:53
You can't put a 50% chance of Machado going to any one team -- that'd be insane. And I don't think they're an especially good fit for him regardless
The KHole in Calhoun's bat

Angels 5th rounder is going to attempt to play 2 way (CF and P), will the Angels be trend setters in this regard? I know Ohtani is a bit of a unicorn, but it seems like they could be developing a template for future players
Steve Adams
3:56
Rays are experimenting with this as well with Brendan McKay. I wouldn't assume the Halos are especially committed to English as a two-way player even though they announce him as such. If the kid wants to try to hit but you want him as a pitcher, let him do both for a year and then zero him on in pitching in a year or two. It wouldn't be the first time a team let a draft pick try to do both just as a means of getting him to sign.

Considering they continue to put of decent numbers will Fiers, Liriano, Leoyns Martin, Greene, Iglesias, Fulmer, McCann? be on the Tigers' roster at the end of the season?
Steve Adams
3:57
I think Liriano, Fiers, Martin and Greene will all be moved. McCann and Fulmer less certain since they have more control on their contracts.

Braves send to the Orioles  Koby Allard  Kyle Wright   Christian Pache and Johan  Carmago to the Orioles for Machado Trumbo and Givens who hangs up first?
Steve Adams
3:58
You're a Braves fan and you're OK sending that level of talent for a 2-3 month rental of Machado, Trumbo's negative-value contract and a reliever? (admittedly a good reliever)

No way Atlanta does that.

Do you see Tucker manning the Astros outfield before the end of the season and how long can they keep penciling in Marisnick on their lineup card?
Steve Adams
4:00
Yeah I think he'll be up this summer. As for Marisnick, the bat is difficult to watch, but his glovework and baserunning are both excellent.

Should the rays consider moving Alvarado? Could be a good bullpen piece for another team.
Steve Adams
4:02
He's controlled for another five years beyond the current season. I wouldn't ever wholly rule out the Rays trading someone (for the most part), but he's still 2-3 years from making any real money... no need to move him.

Blue Jays are reportedly thinking of moving Vlad Jr. up to AAA "in the next month. What comes next after that? What's your time table for Junior
Steve Adams
4:04
I saw that report and kind of laughed. He's hitting .409/.461/.677 in 229 Double-A plate appearances. Of course they're thinking of promoting him soon.

I don't have anything beyond a sheer guess for his arrival to the Majors. The Blue Jays probably don't even fully know. I think Baby Vlad will be up sometime this summer though
4:07
Ok, I have to wrap this up for the week. Thanks for chatting, as always. I'm on Twitter for further questions if you like (@Adams_Steve). Jason chats tomorrow night at 6:30pm CT, and Jeff on Tuesday at 2pm CT. Enjoy the rest of your week!
