Jackson can't be worse than Perkins/wiemer at the moment
Steve Adams
2:09
A 19-year-old with no experience above A-ball can absolutely be worse than Joey Wiemer (who's on a 6-game hitting streak and hitting .246/.311/.473 over his past 60 PAs)

Is James Outman a left handed version of Trayce Thompson?
Steve Adams
2:10
He's better than Thompson, but swing-and-miss issues have been cautioned regarding Outman for a good while now. I think he'll be an up-and-down player prone to torrid hot streaks and maddening cold spells, with the end-of-season numbers checking in generally above average.

Aren’t the Mets holding a retirement ceremony for Colon?

Steve: Good Afternoon. Do the Marlins make a play for Perez (c)from the Royals?
Steve Adams
2:13
As I said before, I don't think the Royals will trade Perez (or that a team like Miami would have any interest in that contract)

Would you rather have Baty or Jung
Steve Adams
2:14
Jung, personally, but not overwhelmingly so. I'd consider it perfectly defensible if someone preferred Baty.

Who is the biggest surprise thus far?    DBacks? Pirates? Marlins? Rangers? Phillies? smdh!
Steve Adams
2:15
Of that group, the Pirates' success is the most surprising to me. Not saying I expected the Rangers/D-backs to be leading their divisions in June, but I felt like both were generally underrated heading into the year. The Pirates have just outperformed even my most optimistic outlook.

Does Zach Plesac make sense for the Braves?
Steve Adams
2:17
He makes sense for plenty of teams needing some semblance of pitching depth (Braves, Blue Jays, Yankees, Phillies, Cardinals, etc.) -- but expectations should be pretty tempered and I wouldn't give up all that much in a trade to try to turn him around. The early dominance never looked sustainable, and he's pitched like (at best) a back-of-the-rotation arm for the past couple years now.

How about another surprise…the Padres?
Steve Adams
2:19
Yeah, a less pleasant surprise for San Diego fans for sure. I didn't love their approach to the back of the rotation, but I'd never have expected the team to slide this much this fast.

is Cleveland alone in 1st Place if they had pulled the trigger on that Sean Murphy trade?  We are getting jack squat from our Catchers this year.
Steve Adams

We don't know the exact ask, though there were some credible reports putting Daniel Espino among the players on whom the A's inquired (understandably). If you figure they wanted something like Espino, a lower-caliber but still-good prospect (Valera, Bibee, Allen, etc) and some MLB-ready help... it's easy to see why they might've balked.

At the same time, even if you subtract Bibee or Allen from the current pitching group it's hard to imagine the Guards wouldn't have been better off overall with Murhpy behind the plate.
