'Tis Tuesday. 'Tis Chat Day.

Let us commence.

Any rumors that the White Sox are going to get another OF bat to help until Robert and/or Eloy return or another relief arm?
Steve Adams
2:10
If there were rumors of substance, we'd have them on the site in some capacity. I imagine they'll be looking in both areas, more so in the outfield, and there are plenty of options out there. A rental makes a little more sense to me than someone controlled beyond this year, since they'll have Robert and Eloy next year, plus they'll need to put Vaughn somewhere and have some 40-man guys they'll want to take a look at (Rutherford, Gonzalez).

It's a bit early for major trades to be popping up yet, but a Corey Dickerson, Kole Calhoun (when he's healthy), etc. make sense there. The Eaton reunion just hasn't worked.

More trade value Adam Frazier or Rich Rodriguez?
Steve Adams
2:11
I tend to think Rodriguez, since he's cheaper and has more control and every team needs bullpen help. But Frazier is raking, he can play a solid 2B or LF, and lots of teams could use that contact-oriented bat right now.

Best place to find cheap flights to Milwaukee?
Steve Adams
2:11
My friend, the Brewers should be covering your flight costs.

Patrick Wisdom.   Buying or selling?
Steve Adams
2:13
Fun week, but we're talking a journeyman with a near-30% strikeout rate in AAA who has whiffed in 15 of his 40 plate appearances already.

whats The asking price for Max Scherzer these days
Steve Adams
2:16
I'm still wholly unconvinced the Nationals will trade him. They could, obviously, and there will be rumors about him to the point that people are begging for it to stop. The reality is, though, that we rarely see the Nats make a selling move of this nature (their reported near-deal to send Harper away notwithstanding). Scherzer has a no-trade clause, too.

If he's moved, I'd say look back to the Yu Darvish rental, as that's the last time that an ace was moved away in the final year of a decent-sized contract. Texas netted Willie Calhoun, then a Top 50ish prospect, and a pair of mid-range prospects from a deep Dodgers farm.

Which Tiger could be traded for the highest prospect?
Steve Adams
2:18
If we're talking any Tiger on the team, probably Casey Mize? If we're talking Tigers who have an actual chance to be traded -- and there is a zero-percent chance on Mize, that was mostly a tongue-in-cheek reply -- a healthy Turnbull and his remaining three years of club control after 2021 would draw a lot of interest.
Padres
2:18
Padres bring Bryant back to his USD roots and resign him to an extension to play corner OF?  Can they also trade the cubs no-name prospects for him, like they did Darvish (thanks Cubs)?
Steve Adams
2:19
Cubs aren't trading Bryant when they're vying for the division lead. If they tank in the next seven weeks, it'll be more likely, but the remainder of Bryant's contract isn't so large that they'll take a low-ball deal like they did with that Darvish fiasco.
2:20
Imagine if Tom Ricketts had given a crap about trying to win in 2021, how good the Cubs would be looking with Darvish atop the rotation, reborn Kimbrel in the bullpen and a revitalized Bryant anchoring the lineup. Oops.

Starling Marte trade? White Sox? Padres? Who else?
Steve Adams
2:21
I think the Marlins will want to move some of the money and get some prospects back, yes, since they probably don't want to risk a qualifying offer. White Sox, sure. Phillies, Mets, Yankees, Astros... never rule Padres out on anyone, ha. Problem with some of those clubs (Astros, Yankees in particular) is that despite an obvious need, they seem to be sticking to their luxury tax mandates.

You think the Phillies will go after Ketel Marte?
Steve Adams
2:22
I think half the league is going to go after Ketel Marte, Philadelphia included.

Clint Frazier for Kyle Wright?
Steve Adams
2:23
I actually don't hate that challenge trade, but the Braves might feel they have sufficient outfield depth on the horizon with Waters, Pache and Harris. Plus it's not like their own rotation is free of injury.

Gorman for scherzer straight up ?
Steve Adams
2:24
I think a package headlined by Nolan Gorman would appeal to the Nats. I would expect there to be other, lower-level (or at least lesser-regarded) prospects in play.

Is Bobby Bradley our first baseman of the future?
Steve Adams
2:27
He'll get the opportunity to prove that, but it's not like he was really doing much in Triple-A to show he's capable of that. It the 1B of the future is going to come from the farm, I might bet more on Nolan Jones, though they've barely played him there yet.

What's my biggest need - LHP relievers, or relievers who can get LH batters out (knowing full well that if they're RH Dusty won't use them)?
Steve Adams
2:29
Astros need a center fielder and have needed one since the offseason began.
John

Most likely to be traded: Means, Mullins, Mancini
Steve Adams
2:29
Mancini just because he's up for free agency the soonest (post-2022).

How many Frazier/Andujar for top tier player trade proposal do you get asked on average per chat?
Steve Adams

Fewer than I get asked "When is Jo Adell coming up"

How am I still employed?

This one, too.

Chances of Haniger getting moved? Possible suitors?
Steve Adams
2:33
I don't see how Seattle can keep hovering around .500 when they're hitting .208/.282/.367 as a team and sporting a -54 run differential, so I think there's a pretty good chance he's moved next month. White Sox, Indians, Cardinals, Braves all make some sense.
Chris Young
2:34
Do I move Joey Gallo at the deadline?
Steve Adams
2:36
Jon Daniels is still running their baseball operations department. He's the Rangers' president of BB ops. Young, the GM, is a step below him. It's collaborative, but Daniels is the higher-ranking of the two.

Anyhow, Haniger feels likelier to be moved to me if we're talking one-plus OFs, but I'd lean more toward Gallo being moved than staying. Texas is 12 games out, Gallo will be owed a raise on a salary that's already at $6.25MM, and an extension doesn't seem likely.
