Think Puig is in a starting lineup on OD?  Any particular teams that make sense other than the Giants?
Steve Adams
3:07
At this point I'm skeptical, as he'd have zero time to ramp up. Could play in some intrasquad games at an alternate site and try to get ramped up. He has 10 days until Opening Day at this point

Would the players ever agree to some sort of salary cap?
Steve Adams
3:09
They have fully guaranteed contracts and no per-team spending limits -- I have a hard tie seeing them agreeing to blow that up regardless of what concessions the league makes.

Does forest Whitley make the rotation?
Steve Adams
3:11
Whitley was sharp in the AFL last year but 2019 was otherwise an absolute disaster season for him. He might get in there eventually, but Opening Day, I think they'll go with other options (Urquidy if he's healthy, Pruitt, James, Valdez, etc.)

in light of Posey opting out; do you think Bart will get any kind of look?   I’m guessing they don’t want him up as a back-up
Steve Adams
3:13
Later in the season, maybe, but Zaidi already said they'll likely add a catcher to the player pool and downplayed the possibility of just letting Bart run with it.

Will the Astros extend George Springer?
Steve Adams
3:14
I think he'll test the market -- two months away at this point. Might as well see what's out there. I generally don't expect many extensions between now and the offseason.

Does the cy go to a relief pitcher this year
Steve Adams
3:15
They're still not going to have the innings that starters will rack up. I don't think today's voters will be swayed by a sub-1.00 ERA if it comes in 30 IP of work while Verlander or Morton or someone is sitting on a 2.50 in 80 innings.

Any update on service time ramifications for some of the top prospects?  I.e. when would we realistically see guys like Pearson, Pache, Madrigal, etc up?
Steve Adams
3:16
Service time will be prorated, so those teams are going to have to keep guys down for like ... a week? Doubt they're on Opening Day rosters. Service time manipulation will be easier than ever in 2020.

Does Pearson get called up immediately after his minimum 1 week minors stint?
Steve Adams
3:17
No reason he shouldn't, in my mind. Early wins for the Jays will only make it more likely, though they're starting out against the Rays, which doesn't help things.

In Fantasy who do you got I Happ, F Cordero, S Hilliard? Pick 1
Steve Adams
3:19
Hilliard if he gets the playing time.

Best lineup in baseball is who? Angels? Yankees? Dodgers? Braves? Mets?
Steve Adams
3:20
Dodgers and Yankees are up there. Twins added Donaldson to a lineup that led the Majors in home runs. They're in the mix, too.

If Yordan Alvarez misses the season (knee problems) who gets the most DH duties? Brantley?
Steve Adams
3:23
They'd shuffle Brantley, Reddick, Tucker, Springer, etc. throughout and try to keep them all fresh that way. Gurriel on occasion too. I don't think there'd be one set DH or anything

Love the WBC do you think it will happen as scheduled in 2021? Covid seems like it is going to cancel it.
Steve Adams
3:23
It was postponed until 2023 back in May:

Why aren’t teams airing their intrasquad games on tv?
Steve Adams
3:24
Many are broadcasting them online. Exhibition games against other clubs are being picked up by regional networks.
3:25
(Not sure if that applies universally -- but I know a lot of networks are airing exihbition play at least)
Jordan
3:25
Think this is the end of Ryan Zimmerman's career?
Steve Adams
3:25
I think the Nats would bring him back on a similar deal if he wanted to play in 2021.

How many at bats do you think Lorenzen gets with CIN's clutter OF mix and the DH spot this year?
Steve Adams
3:27
I doubt he'll hit much at all, but David Bell praised his elite speed and talked about him as a late-inning defensive option recently on MLB Network. Could see him do some pinch-running and occasional pinch-hitting -- but early in the season with the extra bench spots, they may feel they have better options. Once rosters dip to 26, maybe he's more of an option ... but even then they'll have the DH.
3:28
Maybe he'd pinch-hit for Winker or another LH bat against LHP

If a player opts-out, can they decide to come back later on in the year? Say the Nationals are doing great and Zimmerman decides to come back for a playoff push, is that allowed?
Steve Adams
3:29
If a player is high-risk, he can opt out and come back. Those who are not high-risk and have already opted out are not permitted to do so. Zimmerman won't play in 2020.
Roger
3:29
Is a guy like David Price or Buster Posey still getting paid this season? At a prorated amount or no pay or all pay?
Steve Adams
3:30
No (as we wrote in those posts on their decisions to opt out). Only players who are high-risk themselves are paid if they opt out.
Lehnis
3:30
Do you think the Mariners should give Kelenic a shot as it is only a 60 game season?
Steve Adams
3:32
If they feel that's the best step for him developmentally, sure, but GM Jerry Dipoto has already downplayed that possibility.

And apologies if I'm reading into your comment incorrectly, but your wording makes it seem like you view 2020 as something less than a traditional season. So if 2020 is more of a novelty, wouldn't it be in fans' best interest to wait rather than burn one of his seasons of club control on a lesser season?

Any of these guys willing to sign a short term deal with the O's? Puig, Godley, Bennett, B Dozier.
