Welcome! Apologies on a now 2-week absence from chatting ... trade deadline and vacation got in the way. Let's get back on track!
Pad Squad
3:04
Gore, Tatis, Urias...those three probably won't all be playing together until probably 2021. Should the Pads go after ANY major trade pieces or FA's now, or just be patient and wait a couple more seasons to get aggressive?
Steve Adams
3:06
I'd say 2020 is possible for that trio, though it'd require a pretty quick rise for Gore. Still not impossible.

I don't think they should've signed Hosmer (not exactly a radical opinon, I know), but if the front office is convinced they'll be contending come 2020, then I think they should be active in pursuing in-prime assets to try to push the envelope in 2019
3:07
Generally, I understand that tanking is going to continue to be a thing throughout the league, but I think teams owe it to their fans to eventually start making a push. And the D-backs' window is fading, while the Rockies seem to have perennial issues and the Giants aren't getting any younger.

Who is interested in josh Donaldson?
Steve Adams
3:08
I doubt there's substantial interest in him at the moment. He's more of a qualifying offer candidate to me than a trade candidate at present.

Odds they call up my son this year?
Steve Adams
3:08
I feel like fans will revolt if they don't. My expectation is yes.

If Cole Hamels continues to prove he's on of the cubs best pitchers down the stretch do you see them exercising his 20 mil option?
Steve Adams
3:09
It's not outside the realm of possibility, but the Cubs will need far more than three starts to decide he's someone they want at $20MM next year. That said, he's been legitimately excellent for them so far.

Dodgers bullpen in trouble? Look at the bullpens for the rest of the teams likely headed to the playoffs...
Steve Adams
3:12
Yeah, it's obviously a very real concern. I was watching Alexander's meltdown last night, which is obviously just one data point in a recent trend. I have to think they'll be looking at pieces to add between now and Aug. 31, but even then, you can't feel comfortable stacking that group up against some of the better relief units among postseason contenders.

Odds Oakland wins the West? Feels like the year Josh Hamilton dropped a ball at the Coliseum to lose Texas the division.
Steve Adams
3:12
I can't see the Astros relinquishing the West
Jerry Blevins
3:13
Do I get traded this month?  If so, what do I bring back?
Steve Adams
3:14
A PTBNL? He won't return anything of note. He might even be the type of guy the Mets just let go if a contending club claims him. He's pitched 30 innings with poor control and uncharacteristic struggles against lefties.

3:14
Has Josh Donaldson cleared waivers yet? If so, does it make sense for me to trade for him even though he has been hurt most of the year?
Steve Adams
3:15
He needs to be healthy enough to play on a rehab assignment before he can even be put through waivers.
Mike Rizzo
3:15
Should I fire Dave Martinez?  Bring in someone who can rally the players and help them perform better?
Steve Adams
3:17
It's most likely going to be up to the Lerner family yet again. Sounds like if Rizzo had his way, Dusty wouldn't have left. I don't think they'll make Martinez the scapegoat in year one of a three-year deal, if only for PR purposes. Washington's handling of its managerial situation is perennially baffling, though, so I've pretty much given up on trying to guess what they'll do.

How BS is it that Cano gets to come back and play in order to help his team get in the playoffs? As an A's fan it is particularly hard to be ok with
Steve Adams
3:18
He sat out half the season. I don't really consider it BS, especially since he can't impact the actual postseason at all. Mariners deserve credit for thriving even with one of their best players sidelined for half the year.

Do I spend big in the off-season to speed up the rebuilding process?
Steve Adams
3:20
Sox weren't even big spenders in FA prior to their rebuild. Jose Abreu's $68MM deal is still the largest in franchise history, I believe.

I can see them on the periphery of the Machado market, but beyond that I don't envision them spending at huge levels.
3:21
Damn -- Pirates are reportedly sending Shane Baz as the third player in the Archer trade. That's quite the haul for TB. Going to get a headline on this up quickly -- one second.

Is the gold glove a given for Matt Chapman this year? Also where does he finish in MVP voting?
Steve Adams
3:28
I think he'll get the Gold Glove, yeah -- deservedly so. MVP-wise, he'll fall behind Trout, Betts, Ramirez and maybe even JD Martinez despite the lack of defensive value there. Chapman could well finish in the Top 10 with a nice finish, though.

Shouldn't Phillies try to get Ervin Santana for stretch run or a bullpen arm?
Steve Adams
3:29
I think it's tough to say anyone *should* try to scoop up Ervin when he's thrown this poorly since returning from a pretty notable surgery on his pitching hand.
Twins would probably just be happy with the cost savings if a team claimed him right now.

Last sentence of Baz post has "in" where it should be "an" You don't have to publish this comment, no one will ever know

Do u think Cardinals have a chance to make the wild card or will they just miss out?
Steve Adams
3:32
Of course they have a chance. They're only two games back with six-ish weeks to play.

If you're asking my opinion of whether they actually get there, I don't think they will, personally, but it's a clear possibility.

Could Angels get any Quality players back frrom Cam, Parker or Kole?
Steve Adams
3:34
Teams would love to get their hands on either one of Bedrosian or Parker, I'm sure. But they fact that they're now subject to revocable waivers makes a deal unlikely. There's a 0% chance either of them clears, so they'd be negotiating with one team -- possibly even a division rival like Seattle
3:35
Also possible that a current non-contender with 2019 aspirations -- Twins? Jays? -- would take a look. Then again, that also describes the Angels, so it's likelier to me they'd just keep the pair.

As for Calhoun, given his contract and mixed results this season, he'd be likelier to clear, but I don't think he'd return much
Rays
3:36
How about the Ray's haul for archer? Glasnow looks like a stud so far and meadows in baz
