I think they'll move Matt Barnes and Kevin Pillar, for sure, while also pursuing deals involving JDM and JBJ. They'll listen on Vazquez, too, but there's less urgency to deal him.

I think the group last year showed us they'll move players who aren't QO candidates. I doubt they see Gausman as one, and I think he's likely to be moved. The Giants' front office knows that Donovan Solano, Austin Slater, etc. can't keep up this level of performance. Even Yaz, who I'm buying as a quality big league regular, can't be expected to maintain his current level of absurdity.

The asking price would be so prohibitive that it's not worth pondering much. Fletcher getting moved would shock me.

Dodgers are so stacked that I don't even know where to recommend they upgrade. There's no sense in dealing Stripling, though. The depth is critical in such a short season, and they have some injury-prone arms on the staff there.

They shouldn't be, no. Moose, Votto, Suarez and Shogo struggling to this extent is pretty remarkable. Most of those guys have BABIPs in the .200 range, so there's some hope, sure, but they've put themselves in a hole -- and none of those guys are someone you're just going to acquire an upgrade over and move on from.

The Brewers never really go one direction under Stearns; they'll sell off some big league assets while adding others. Most clubs will operate in this capacity. I say this every summer, but baseball fans as a whole shouldn't look at teams as strict "buyers" or "sellers," with a few notable exceptions in any given year.

Concerning any trade possibilities for Trevor Bauer, surely nobody will offer anything valued higher than potential compensation picks. Thoughts?

I think a combination of that and the NL Central (or NL in general) being pretty weak will keep him in Cincinnati. They're not far out of a playoff spot, and if you get a Sonny Gray/Trevor Bauer/Luis Castillo-led rotation into a playoff setting, you have to feel good against any team.

I can't understand why the A's won't just play Barreto, but it's clear they're not going to, so flipping him to rent Schoop -- sure. Doubt they'd get both guys for a month of Schoop

Hanser Alberto in Baltimore should be. Could ask the Giants about Flores. I'm sure they'd move Longoria, but Astros don't want to take on that contract. Same with Kyle Seager from Seattle. Tommy La Stella. Niko Goodrum.

Toro is making decent contact, though, and not K'ing at a crazy rate. He's getting BABIPed to death (.139), and his xwOBA is 116 points higher than his actual wOBA. I think he'll be fine over a larger period.

For as heralded as he is in Philly, there’s a pretty good chance they end up regretting that trade, right? Sixto and Alfaro would be very solid pieces for a long time and it’s looking like they went absolutely nowhere before “The Best Catcher in Baseball” bolts.

If the only way you justify a trade being worthwhile is a deep postseason run, you'll probably be let down more often than not. Alfaro looks solid but not irreplaceable, and Sanchez is still just a prospect. All pitching prospects are prone to breaking down.

Frankly, even if they both become quality big leaguers, I think the trade was still worth it.

Not like the front office could know at the time ownership wouldn't green-light an extension based on pandemic-induced revenue losses (if they ultimately pass on meeting his price)

He has almost as many walks as IP and is a free agent in two months. Maybe they're one of the clubs who like him as a reliever, I guess, but guess I feel like they'd go for more of a definite upgrade than a project if they make a move. They don't need to gamble like that.
