Greetins! Will get this rolling in one minute -- need to reply to an email quickly -- but feel free to begin asking questions now. I'll get to as many as I can in the next hour or so

True or False:  Vasquez never plays a game again?
Patty O'Furniture
3:07
So...Felipe Vazquez
uhh
3:07
Felipe Vazquez, wyd?????
Steve Adams
3:08
Unsurprisingly -- a lot of comments on Vazquez. Generally speaking, I would say it is extraordinarily difficult to see him ever being employed by an MLB team again. Or any team, really. His career, ostensibly, would seem to be over

Scheduling problem, Meg is chatting over at FanGraphs, bad form my friend

Send Meg my sincerest apologies. Our nonaffiliated sites will need to coordinate next time!

Do you see Kelenic getting called up by the Mariners next season?  He’s already flying through the minors.
Steve Adams
3:11
Doesn't seem impossible, though the Mariners obviously won't be in any rush since they won't be contending most likely. But he'll turn 21 next summer, has already shown well in AA (albeit just 25 games or so). It's not crazy to think he'll either open 2020 in AAA or jump there early in the year. At that point, he's right on the cusp.

If A’s reach the Wild Card game, whom would you start?  Manaea, Luzardo, Roark or Fiers?
Steve Adams
3:12
I think Sean Manaea is their most talented starter, and he's been dominant since coming off the IL. There's no guarantee they have the luxury of lining him up to make that start, but if they do, he gets the vote pretty easily from me.

Just as a discussion point - what would have happened if the Pirates had traded him at the deadline?  Could a team file a grievance and have the trade nixed?
Steve Adams
3:13
I don't think there'd be a case. Los Angeles would need to prove that the Pirates were aware of the investigation at the time, which wasn't the case:

Colin Dunlap @colin_dunlap 1h
Just talked to a person in state law enforcement re Vazquez situation...said Fla authorities didn’t alert Pirates of investigation and kept really tight circle in Pennsylvania because they “didn’t want him tipped off and skipping out to Venezuela or disappearing”

Who will the white sox target this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:15
I expect them to be in on the top-of-the-market starters and corner outfielders. Perhaps Grandal as well, even with Collins around. I don't think they'll win the bidding on a Gerrit Cole, but I could see them going after Marcell Ozuna or Yasiel Puig pretty aggressively.

Sup Steve, I asked Connor this yesterday, did you collect cards as a kid?
Steve Adams
3:17
Sure did -- but not as avidly as Jeff Todd or Tim Dierkes, from my understanding of things. I have a box of some old stray cards and several binders worth of cards from my childhood that I'm going to go through to see if I have any that are worth anything. I'm not expecting much, but haven't looked at them in ages. Maybe there's something cool in there.

ETA on Dylan Carlson? Think he's the starter if Ozuna is gone, or more seasoning in Triple A?
Steve Adams
3:18
He only played 18 games in AAA so it wouldn't surprise me if they kept him there for a bit. Could just keep him down for three weeks to "work on his defense" or something nebulous and then magically decide he's done once his free agency has been pushed back a year

As/Rays/Indians - who you got going into the playoff
Steve Adams
3:19
A's and Rays for me

does Vazquez get traded in the offseason now since the pirates don't want this sort of behavior in there organization.
Steve Adams
3:20
No one wants that in their system.
3:21
As I said above, I'd imagine this could just end his career (and possibly lead to incarceration)

Should Sean's nickname be Duke Newcomb?
Steve Adams
3:21
My god.
Yes.
It should.

3:21
Gerrit Cole to Phil’s? Rendon to Mets and trade Frazier after? Could this actually happen?
Steve Adams
3:21
Frazier is a free agent.
3:23
As for Cole and the Phillies, I'd have to imagine they're in on him. They need the pitching. It'll depend on John Middleton's tolerance for handing out record contracts in back to back offseasons, as Cole has a chance at topping David Price's $217MM mark.
3:24
And Rendon to the Mets, I mean... there's a fit there, but the Mets have never gone to that level in free agency before, and arbitration alone is going to push their payroll north of where it was in 2019
Hmm...
3:24
Any pitcher grab over 100+ million this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:24
Cole might top $200MM.
3:25
If Strasburg opts out, I'd add him to the mix for $100MM+ as well. Bumgarner has a chance, I suppose, but I'd take the under.
Cole
3:26
I’ll get $220/7 from LAA. Mark my words
Steve Adams
3:26
That is plausible, yes.
