Best pitcher to get traded in the off-season?
Steve Adams
3:06
Let's get weird: Zack Greinke (again)
Lance Lynn is a safer bet, but that's less fun
Richie Sexton
3:09
Is Matt Olson basically me? Or is he better?
Steve Adams
3:10
He's a (much) better defender, a better runner and has as much or more power from the better side of the platoon. He's better.
3:11
A lot better, for that matter
Olson has 10.3 fWAR in 412 games. Sexson had 16.8 in 3x as many games.

Should the Indians trade Lindor?
Steve Adams
3:13
They're not going to extend him -- Dolan won't pay that much -- and they'll get more from trading him than from taking a comp pick after the QO. Plus, since Dolan won't spend the money to extend him, they're also limiting their opportunity to add pieces elsewhere on the roster by keeping Lindor and what will be a salary well north of $20MM.

What they *should* do is extend him, but ownership won't green light that. So, yes, I think the front office, recognizing that impossibility, should trade him.

rank the most active teams in an unpredictable offseason?
Steve Adams
3:16
Mets will have new ownership and maybe a new front office.
Angels could have a new GM with aggressive win-now aspirations.
Jays, White Sox, Marlins will shift from rebuilding to more win-now mode.
Brewers are always super active but with smaller scale moves.
I can see the Rangers and Astros going the other direction.
Rockies should, too. They won't though. (Go the sell route that is)

How much of the 18 million do the Braves have to pay Hamels?
Steve Adams
3:17
His prorated salary is $6.48MM.
Hugh Gerectshun
3:18
Giants in playoffs?
Steve Adams
3:19
Cards, Phils and Brewers are likelier for me, but they're the other team that's not completely out of it just yet.

Do you think Bauer will/can get $25M per year Say for 5 years  or go 1 or 2 year @30M per year
Steve Adams
3:20
5/125 undersells what Bauer would get in a normal market on a long-term deal for me. And I think $30MM on a one-year deal undersells it, too.

Revenue losses will screw with everything, but he should be able to do better than both of those figures, in my mind.*

*=I tend to be more aggressive on contract predictions than the other staffers at MLBTR, ha.

ROD, Bauer says he will only sign 1 year deals from now on
Steve Adams
3:21
He said last week he's open to long-term deals.

Do MLB players read your articles?
Steve Adams
3:22
We have a lot of players who read the site, follow us on Twitter, have the app on their phone, etc., yes.
AJ
3:22
I assume the Royals will release OHearn this year? Does he get picked up or go to Japan?
Steve Adams
3:23
He still has minor league options left beyond 2020. They could keep him around based on that alone.
KC is pretty loyal to its homegrown guys -- sometimes to a fault

I think Trevor Bauer wants to be an Astro...
Steve Adams
3:24
Ha I think that's one of the few teams we can safely rule out.
Robert Larice Jr
3:24
Could the Orioles battle for a wild card as soon as next year?
Steve Adams
3:26
The pitching isn't there, and I don't think most of their good 2020 hitters will replicate this level of production in '21. (though I do like Santander and Mountcastle in a general sense)

3:26
James McCann resign with white Sox?
Steve Adams
3:27
Someone will pay him to play more than the White Sox can offer him with Grandal there.

3:28
James Paxton going to get a qualifying offer?
Steve Adams
3:28
Nope
Philly A's
3:28
Sorry, Liam Hendriks for MVP?
Steve Adams
3:30
Reliever of the Year, maybe, but he's not winning the MVP based on saves.
Not that saves are all he has going for him, of course

Please tell me the expanded playoff rule is only for this year! Don't want MLB to turn into the NHL.
Steve Adams
3:30
Manfred has already said he hopes it sticks.
