The Cubs. Quickly.
Dan Duquette aka DD
3:43
Should I trade Chris Davis to the Dodgers in the off-season for one year of Adrian Gonzalez?
Steve Adams
3:44
Why would the Dodgers take on the Davis contract?
Bo
3:44
Do the Phillies bring Hellickson back for Rotation Depth?
Steve Adams
3:45
Think they'll aim a bit higher in free agency this winter. Not saying they'll go after top-of-the-market arms, but they've had enough young guys start to show something that a modest investment (or 2-3 such investments) in a veteran that could really move the needle makes some sense.
Alek
3:45
Where will Lowrie start 2018?
Steve Adams
3:45
Blue Jays, Angels, Mets could all use varying forms of infield depth
Rob
3:46
In retrospect, Justin Verlander had a fantastic season.  Were he a free agent right now, wouldn't he easily clear the 2 years /56M left on his contract (the amount that no team was seemingly willing to risk to claim him)?
Steve Adams
3:48
Sure, but it wouldn't be at such a steep annual value most likely. And besides, looking at one half with the benefit of hindsight is pretty easy. His control was terrible in the season's first half -- he didn't exactly have a poor ERA with otherwise sterling secondary metrics. I think a lot of teams were legitimately concerned about a decline, given his age and then-seemingly evaporating ability to locate the ball.

Is Matt Cain forfeiting his buyout?
Steve Adams
3:49
I'm sure he's not. He'll file the paperwork once the World Series ends and he collects that last check. Haven't seen it suggested otherwise anywhere else

i say fulmer to the braves. what say you
Steve Adams
3:49
Said on Tuesday and will say probably 100 more times this winter -- I don't think the Tigers are selling low on him after he's coming off arm surgery and an absolutely awful stretch to close out the year.
3:50
There's no incentive for them to move him right now. He's not even arb-eligible yet.
Loren
3:50
Here's a random one; Giancarlo Stanton to the Padres - they have the farm system to make a decent offer and not lose any big names PLUS they have  the cap space. Thoughts?
Steve Adams
3:51
There's no salary cap in baseball, and the Padres are far more than one slugger away from contending next season. Can't see that happening.
Nick Senzel
3:51
Will I be on the opening day roster?
Steve Adams
3:51
No real sense in doing so when they could keep him down in the minors for a month and buy another year of team control.
Blake

In my speech class I have to give a eulogy about someone/something. We just need the person's permission. So, may I do a eulogy on you?
Steve Adams
3:52
This is the weirdest question I've ever gotten in a chat. If you want to fictionally eulogize me, though, knock yourself out, ha.
Bobby Evans
3:53
Are my days as gm numbered?
Steve Adams
3:53
Evans was instrumental in helping the team win three rings in five years. The Giants have had one terrible season. He's not going anywhere, nor should he in my eyes.
Jack
3:54
If Cueto opts-in, and I am not convinced he does, do the SFG then deal one of him or Shark who have 4 and 3 yrs respectively remaining on deals as a week FA market alternative.
Steve Adams
3:55
I'll be stunned if he opts out. They'd almost certainly have to eat some of his contract, and it's not like they have internal options beating down the door for a rotation spot. I expect them to keep Cueto, Samardzija and Moore while adding another experienced starter this winter.
Joe Kerr
3:55
Is Luis Castillo the opening day starter for the Reds next season?
Steve Adams
3:55
He should be.
R.A.Dickey
3:56
where will I be pitching next year?
Steve Adams
3:56
Atlanta gets my vote
Wonderboy
3:56
Do you see the Cardinals going after JD Martinez this winter?
Steve Adams
3:57
I think they'll be one of the most frequently connected teams to him, yeah. Would free them to even more aggressively market their remaining outfielders in trades, too. They have some value on their hands with Grichuk, Pham, Sierra, Piscotty, Bader, etc. all vying for a couple of spots.
Brew Crew

Should we have bent to the rumored White Sox demand for Hader to get Quintana?
Steve Adams
4:00
I'd imagine they'd be much closer to the Rockies in the Wild Card race, but the rational answer is that there's no good way of being able to answer that question until we see what becomes of Hader. Generally, an MLB-ready pitching prospect that can either be at least mid-rotation starter or a buzzsaw in the 'pen is a hard thing to give up.

Brewers are set up very nicely in 2018 and beyond even if they just miss the WC this year.
Orioles
4:01
Mycal Givens for Tristan Mckenzie? Britton and Brach for Forrest Whitley, Myles Straw(Astros 20-30 prospect,)? Machado for Acuna, Allard, Richard Rodriguez(Braves 20-30 Prospect)?
Steve Adams
4:01
No across the board for me.
(No as in the Orioles wouldn't get that)
Nori Aoki
4:02
Who you gonna call.  A-O-K-I
Steve Adams
4:02
Aoki using that as walk-up music is amazing.
4:04
Sorry -- A's extended Bob Melvin for a year, he's signed through '19 now
