Good afternoon, my fantasy football friends. Let's get this started.
In case you missed it, I'm going to drop this here at the top. Up on the P-G website this morning were my top 400 fantasy rankings/positional tiers. These are sortable by position and scoring format. They will be updated daily from now through Week 1 kickoff: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/fantasy-football/2024/08/23/rankin...

8th overall in standard 12 team league non snake draft. My two keepers and Henry and Bijon. Picking 8th it looks like Mahomes, Allen or Garrett Wilson will be available. Do I take one of the two best QBs and fill in WR later. Round 2  looks like Aiyuk, London Adams Olave Kupp and Collins will be available but the 2 Qbs gone. Do I go QB or Wilson with #1?
Chris Dell
2:10
Do you start 2 wrs or 3 wrs? If 3, I'd go wilson. I believe you said non-PPR standard scoring. In that case, I'm still willing to go elite WR/RB early and get a high-upside rushing QB multiple rounds later like Kyler Murray, Anthony Richardson and Jayden Daniels

1/2 PPR Kepper question.  I have Breece Hall (3rd)  Jonathan Taylor (4th)  Sam Laporta (12)  I have second overall pick,  which one should I keep and assuming CMC goes first,  do I pick Hill?
Chris Dell
2:12
I have CMC, Lamb and Tyreek ranked in that order 1-3. Assuming CMC goes first, I'd personally go Lamb over Tyreek. My next four WRs in tier one, along with Lamb/Hill, are Chase, Jefferson, St. Brown and A.J. Brown.

What are your thoughts on drafting CeeDee Lamb, Ja'Marr Chase and Brandon Aiyuk?
Chris Dell
2:15
what scoring format are we talking here? Half-PPR? Full-PPR? I might have a few different thoughts depending on the scoring format. If we're assuming half-PPR, I have them ranked as follows below:

WR1 Lamb (tier 1)
WR3 Chase (tier 2)
WR21 Aiyuk (tier 5)

I'm not concerned about Aiyuk leaving SF at this point. If he were to somehow still come here to PIT, he would be given a considerable downgrade into the 30s though for wideouts.
Ryan

I have Kyren as a 15th round keeper, full ppr, and 1.01 pick...how would you attack the draft? (sleeper draft)
Chris Dell
2:19
Kyren is rock solid RB2 with RB1 upside, so I'd focus on grabbing at least 2 elite WRs with my first 4 picks. I'm assuming half-PPR scoring and 2rb/2wr starting lineups here. If I had things my way, right now, I'd prefer a first-round pick of anywhere from 1-9, because there is a clear elite tier of nine players this year IMO:

1 -CMC
2- Lamb
3- Tyreek
4- Chase
5- Jefferson
6- A.J. Brown
7- Amon-Ra St. Brown
8- Breece
9- Bijan

I like coming out of my first 7 picks personally with 4 WRS, 1 RB, 1 elite TE and 1 elite QB. Since you have kyren, you can still take just one elite RB with your top 7 picks and have a clear edge over the rest of your league with your WR core, as well as the "onesie" positions with QB and TE

In a 14 team 1/2 pt PPR league, where we have 2 RB/2 WR/1 Flex, do you still go WR in first round or do you prioritize that top tier of RB (CMC, Breece, Bijon, etc)?
Chris Dell
2:22
Great question. In that specific format, 14 teams/half-PPR, I would prefer one of the elite RBs in round 1 because high-upside waiver wire backs will be harder to come by during the course of the  season. I would even be ok with coming away with 2 rbs out of top 3 picks. There will be a dropoff quicker than 10/12 team leagues, and you can still stack young, elite-level WR talent in the middle rounds with guys like JSN, Brian Thomas, Jameson Williams etc etc
Chris Dell
2:20
Everyone make sure to say happy birthday to Mr. Birthday Boy. Great chat name haha
Birthday Boy

It’s true, today’s my 40th
Chris Dell

Happy 40th, Mr. Birthday Boy. That is an epic year, for sure. We just had a surprise 80th bday party for my pops back in January. I'm still mad at him for beating me in the finals of our dynast league last season joy
Sean
2:24
and for my keeper who do I keep,  Hall (3) Taylor (4) or Laporta (12)  number is the round I would lose
Chris Dell
2:25
Breece hall as a 3rd round keeper is an absolute smash. He'd be my clear pick of those three. Laporta in rd12 is awesome, but not as good as getting the #1rb in fantasy in the 30s overall when he's going in some leagues top 3... that's a great problem to have to start out

Keeper League. Half PPR. I can only keep two players out of this list. I can keep them for the next two to three years… AJ Brown (2nd) J. Hurts (4th) D. Swift (8th) R. Mostert (10th) P. Nuka (12th) T. McBride (12th) C. Stroud (12th) K. Murray (12th) T. Dell (12th).
Chris Dell
2:28
It breaks my hurt to leave AJB out of this, but man, Puka is an absolute no brainer. Can you have two rd12 keepers in this league? If so, Id go Puka/Dell. That can be your WR1/WR2 for years to come at dirt cheap prices. Let me know if that's not the case.
Sean
2:28
Thanks Chris, that was my idea also,  Figured getting an RB1 and WR1 in the first round would be great.
Chris Dell
2:30
Agreed. You also have to remember that "home leagues" in fantasy have always/seemingly will always drive up the market prices of RBs in the early to middle rounds. Because of that, sometimes you just gotta put on your best poker face and read the room. If elite RBs are flying off the board faster than they should, there's nothing wrong with taking an RB1 or RB2 a handful of picks ahead of where he's ranked. You can use more strategy in the mid-to-late rounds to specifically high-upside receivers to make up for that early draft capital as well, in addition to still getting borderline elite TEs like David Njoku, who was the #1 TE in fantasy last year from Weeks 9-17.

10tm Full PPR Superflex league. Start 3 WR’s. 4 keepers and can keep for 4 years. I’m keeping Josh Allen & CMC. Need 2 more from this group.
Jonathan Taylor
Davante
London
Olave
Nico
Trey McBride
Chris Dell
2:33
Nico is your clear top pick. Olave/London is truly close to a coin flip here. I like Olave a bit more personally due to his explosiveness down the field, and looking ahead, we could be seeing an extremely underrated spencer rattler under center sooner than later for N.O., who's been lighting it up in camp with his deep ball accuracy. London higher floor, Olave higher ceiling.

Chris Dell
2:35
Can you keep multiple RD12 picks? If yes, I'm going Puka/Dell. If no, I'd probably go Puka/Brown because Brown even in RD2 is a value this year.
Justin P
2:35
Your top 9 looks a lot different than most, given most people I have seen LOVE Bijan and Breece going in the top 5.  Is it your fear of injury at the RB position?  I just feel like WR depth is much deeper this year compared to RB, and those top 3 RB seem to be in a tier well above the rest.  Your thoughts?
Chris Dell
2:38
Good question, JP. You gotta look at the TIERS, not the actual individual rankings. Yes, I have Breece/Bijan ranked 8/9. But they are all in tier two with the other WRs. All in all, those 6-7 players in tier two are separated by mere decimal points at the end of the year. The only time I ever worry about injuries is players coming back off major knee/achilles surgeries OR players dealing with soft-tissue/hamstring injuries. No injury concern for me with Breece or Bijan this year. They are valid picks at #4 and beyond for me this year. The clear top 3 are CMC-Lamb-Tyreek imo.
Birthday Boy
2:39
which player that you currently rank in the 50-70s overall do you think has the best chance to bring a top 20 value in return in a PPR league?
Chris Dell
2:40
Love the question, Birthday Boy. I'm going to highlight a few players at each position that I view with that type of upside and group them here below. One sec.....
2:45
These are my top LEAGUE-WINNING UPSIDE PLAYERS who I have ranked between 50-100 this season:

QB
Jayden Daniels
Kyler Murray

RB
Kenneth Walker
James Conner
Rachaad White
Zack Moss
Chase Brown
Tony Pollard
Jaylen Warren

WR
Xavier Worthy
Jaxon Smith-Njigba
Brian Thomas Jr.
Jameson Williams
Rome Odunze

TE
David Njoku is my favorite TE value in this range but he's not finishing top 20 overall even if all things break right. I just wanted to include him to highlight him as the highest-upside at his position in this range.

Thanks Chris, quick follow up, you wouldn’t keep Taylor then?
Chris Dell
2:46
No, I wouldn't keep JT if it's a long-term keeper format. RBs lose value in these dynasty types of leagues considerably quickly. You already have CMC and want to make sure you have two elite WRs because those pass-catchers could give you 5+ years of same-level production and not need to worry about switching teams/getting banged up as much etc
Dingus
2:47
Who's your top stay-away player in the top 25-30?
Chris Dell
2:48
Good question, Dingus. I actually wrote about my "stay away 30" list a few weeks ago on the P-G website, so I'll drop that here first: https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/fantasy-football/2024/08/09/fantas...
2:51
If we're talking half-PPR, and looking at home league ADP (average draft position), then I'll give you a couple of guys I'm hardly ever drafting in the top 25-30ish range:

Davante Adams
Travis Kelce
Sam LaPorta

Honorable mention: Drake London

Not to say I think any of these players will have "bad" years, but the pricetags are just too expensive right now. I'd rather draft similar upside players at these positions multiple rounds later, especially when it comes to the Davante/Kelce potential age-cliff profiles who could decline in a hurry. Davante especially with extremely shoddy play-calling and QB play in LV.
Rudy
2:52
which players have you drafted the most of in ALL of your drafts so far for 2024?
Chris Dell
2:54
Good question, Mr. Rudy. I'm going to preface this answer by saying I've done roughly 100-150 best ball drafts this offseason. The players I've drafted THE MOST are typically players that are more available in the mid-to-later rounds. You can also draft so much of CMC unless you get the first or second pick of a draft, if that makes sense. I'm going to answer this individually for both half-PPR and full-PPR below. One sec...
2:58

Thanks again! One last one….I might be able to trade JT prior to declaring keepers and starting the draft, what top WR do you think I might be able to get for him?
Chris Dell
3:05
That's a good idea. I don't know your opponents or there rosters obviously, so it's a little tough to gauge that. BUT, according to a blend of Dynasty/ADP/Rankings, right now players in JT's range that I'd be happy to swap would be as follows. I'll assume you can't get Jefferon/Chase/Lamb/Amon-Ra/A.J. Brown for this exercise:

Marvin Harrison
Malik Nabers
Garrett Wilson
Puka Nacua
Waddle
Devonta Smith
Tank Dell
DJ Moore
DK Metcalf
Tee Higgins

Those are all guys in full-PPR/ dynasty + keeper format that I'd prefer 1v1 for taylor. There are some others you could package and maybe even get 2 though like Odunze, Addison, JSN, Thomas Jr., Jamo, Worthy, etc
