Chris what do you think about the play of Ja’kyrian turner and Jaylen Warren i think both are having a good season
Christopher Carter
2:45
I will say, Pittsburgh's got some talented running backs to root for as a city. Jaylen Warren is a weapon, as is Ja'Kyrian Turner. But man, that Damon Ferguson Jr. is also a problem out of the backfield. It does seem like the Panthers keep finding backs who will be a threat.

TJ Watt still lining up always or nearly always on the left. Stubbornness or part of a well- conceived plan? Promises, promises…
Christopher Carter
2:47
TJ Watt doesn't necessarily need to line up 50-50 between the sides. Even just 5-10 switches a game can create some chaos.

The teelers were doing that in the first two games as he played 6 snaps on the right side in those games, but he's only done it once in each of their last two games now.

Do you think the Porters hate the Rooneys?  I mean they fired peazy twice.  Once as a player and once as a coach.  Three times if you count as jpj manager mom daddy.
Christopher Carter
2:55
I don't think it's a hate, but I do think they didn't feel as tethered to them once they didn't get the deal they thought Porter Jr. was worth.

I got the sense Sr. understood the situation when he was a player and he got paid elsewhere, then came back. He's also talked about protecting the Steelers' veil as recently as last year.

I think this purely came down to how these negotiations went.

Maybe he’s injured, but Washington and Freiermuth are currently better than Pittman. Shouldn’t they be playing more 12 than 11?
Christopher Carter
2:56
Jim, I keep banging this table and will continue to do so until it changes. The Steelers' offense is focusing on the wrong things. Particularly in how they're not using the two tight ends they paid to stick around.

Baltimore 3-1...QB injured. Cleveland is Cleveland are the steelers in that much trouble  ?
Christopher Carter
2:57
I think Cleveland will level out. Thursday night home games against divisional opponent heavily favor the home team -- always.

But the Ravens? I think they're due to have a strong year even with Lamar Jackson injured.

Do have to say, the Bengals have a lot to prove after dropping two straight and now that Texans win looks a lot less impressive.
12-0Pitt?

Hey Chris, how much of the 5-0 start is a mirage? Can they win 11 games this year? Maybe make the ACC championship?
Christopher Carter
3:01
LOL. I don't think they'll go 12-0. But I sitill the an ACC title game appearance isn't out of the cards, particularly because I think their schedule is favorable. The only team not named Miami that I thought would be a big problem was Louisville and they've been struggling.

Granted, losing Heintschel hurts. But this so far has looked like a good enough defense, a good run game and OL, and like a team that can beat most of the teams remaining on its schedule. Get to the end of the year at 10-2 and they're definitely in. 9-3 still a decent shot. 8-4, won't do it, BUT, I think losing Heintschel would give them a respectable out if that happened.

Sorry if you already addressed this....but seems to me that the team should have some recourse in the JPJ situation?  It is very obvious at this point he did not have a back issue.  So he was lying to the team while under contract.   While he did get what he wanted,  which was obviously out of Pittsburgh.   I am not sure the grass will be greener for him.
Christopher Carter
3:03
So, I'm not the best rules expert on that specifically. But I do believe that because they gave him the injury designation, that gives him the protection from any questions on it. Had they not, then there might've been recourse for some sort of action.

Hi chris, great insights.  Question.  Are pickens and porter an example of a prideful ownership group exerting its leverage and sending a message that bad attitudes will not be tolerated OR an example of an organization that doesnt understand or connect with todays modern selfie culture players.
Christopher Carter
3:04
Thanks!

I think Pickens and Porter are different situations. Pickens was late a lot and not a good teammate who visibly wouldn't block at times when it was inconvenient. Porter fought hard for his teammates, physical plenty of times, and didn't have those lateness issues nor was he a problem in the locker room.

They're isolated incidents even if they ended up in the same place.

Chris, should the Steelers sign Tyreek Hill before KC grabs him?
Christopher Carter
3:05
I don't think he'd be interested in old Aaron Rodgers over prime Patrick Mahomes.

Hey Chris. Thanks for the chats! In regard to the JPJ situation, if reporting is true, why would the Steelers FO rush a trade when they still had some levers of control for a player under contract?

For a team that holds so steady to outdated rituals in order to protect the team (I.e no negotiating in season), they are constantly making mistakes with handling players. If I am a current player on the Steelers roster, Im making note of this and know that I can always force my way out of town if needed.
Christopher Carter

I think they saw their leverage dwindling with the way they've played this and saw this as the only way to get even the return they got. I do think this was mismanaged, as they could've done this in a way that got a bigger return earlier.

Man we need cornerback help.  What was once going to be a strong suite on the defense is now a liability.  Do you suggest we poach Trevon Diggs from Seatle practice squad?
Christopher Carter

They just got Sean Murphy-Bunting for that role. Would be nice to have James Pierre right about now.

How much more losing before the young QBs get a chance to play?  Rodgers isn’t the present or future.
Christopher Carter
3:08
I think this only happens once they've been eliminated in the playoffs. But I do think it'll be an interesting dynamic for Rodgers in a swan song season.

Hello Chris, Do you think the Steelers have seen enough from Allar and Howard to make them pass on a QB in round 1 next year? Also is Kahn the man for the GM Job? His drafts have been mediocre and he's made a few questionable trades lately giving up proven players for picks.
Christopher Carter
3:09
Hello!

I do not. They won't force it if they don't like the QB class. But if they do, they'll take the shot. And they should. Neither Allar nor Howard has shown the promise of being a franchise guy and if you think that guy is available, you go for him.

I agree with involving Warren even more. I'm also wondering if Michael Pittman should give some snaps to Bernard if he doesn't start producing in very short order?
Christopher Carter

I liked the Michael Pittman Jr. addition for his ability to beat press coverage and get open fast, but we sure didn't see any of that on Thursday when they really needed it.
3:12
Alright, McCarthy just walked in and told us Derrick Harmon is headed to injured reserve. I've got to focus on that, so I'm closing this chat.

But thanks for joining us here! Keep up with our coverage all week long on all things Pitt and Steelers!
