What is all the criticism about Boz missing 1 out of 5 G

Have you met fans, Ryan? lol

It seems like the receivers are blocking better this year than in recent years past.  Is that because of personnel willing to block,  new coaches preaching blocking, or the types of plays being called this year require it?

Big difference in the size, right?

Bernard is a bulkier, more physical receiver. Metcalf has been that guy.

Wilson and Austin just aren't built the same way. Even Pittman's also built better for that situation.

Didn't you just love Bernard's TD with 2 defenders tacking him while stretching into the end zone?

Certainly gave some Hines Ward vibes about not being denied with the ball in his hands and the game on the line.

Chris, help me understand something. Eli Heidenreich is listed on the depth chart as a RB. When Dowdle was injured they brought up Lew Nichols and Travis Homer. He also played a lot of WR at Navy. With Wilson and Pittman out the Steelers brought up a couple of PS guys.

Gotta be honest, I don't get the point of not using Heidenreich if you're going to keep him on the roster. Especially with his athletic profile

I read where the Saints will arrive in France today and the Steelers won't arrive until Friday morning.  It seems to me the longer there the better to get used to the time change.  Is this a decision the head coach makes or somebody else in the organization?

As I understand it, both are involved. But, the Steelers had a similar approach last year. So maybe that's more about the organization than the coach if nothing changed.

Do you think Elliot plays this weekend and hopefully the secondary will be able to play better with him at safety.

It seemed like Elliott was close last week. My guess is he's back for this game.

I really appreciate your work. Thanks so much for all you do. I just have a real quick question. Did you notice on a third down in OT TJ Watt was literally tackled from behind by the right guard. It was probably the most egregious case of holding I’ve ever seen. I don’t understand how something that blatant gets missed. What sort of accountability do the refs face for missing such a basic call.

I got this quote from Steelers LB Jack Sawyer this morning when I asked about the holds on TJ Watt that I think sums it up pretty well:

"There's really only a couple ways you can block TJ, so holding is always a good option for the offensive linemen."

On your question of accountability, I genuinely think it's one of the biggest problems with the game that officials aren't held to a higher standard for misses like that.

How valuable is the K ball to kickers?  Seems like forcing Bucs K to use game ball at end of game given distance and wind was another reason HCMM should not have called that late TO.
Christopher Carter

From what I understand, they play a big role in the increased range of kickers these days.

What receiver would GM Chris Carter like to see the Steelers acquire and what price are you willing to pay? Thank you

If I had to, Brian Thomas Jr., maybe, if there's a  2nd round pick available.

But being honest, I just wouldn't do it at this point.

I think there will be some good receivers available in this draft and I'd rather spend picks on them than on a veteran right now. Already locked in to pay Metcalf and Pittman a decent amount of money the next couple of years. Need younger guys who will be on rookie contract dollars.

And with that, Mike McCarthy just took the podium. I've got to go focus on that.

Thanks for being part of the chat everyone! Keep it with the Post-Gazette with our coverage.
