I see the Steelers making at least two trades this year during the draft. I'd even be willing to say the over/under can be set at 2.5.

They're either going to trade up at multiple points, or use picks to get 2027 capital. I don't see any way they stay pat with all 12 or even 11 of their picks without at least two moves to improve their capital somewhere.

I hope the Steelers draft a stud DT in the first two rounds and end the days of the DL getting pushed around. Plus Cam is on his last legs, the guy the signed Dey is 31.

One guy to watch out for here is Iowa State's Domonique Orange. Doesn't have the stats, but he eats double teams for breakfast and would be a good prospect to solve the Steelers' nose tackle problem.

I think Derrick Harmon was their pick as a future Cam replacement. Also, watch out for Florida State's Darrell Jackson. Really like him as a third round prospect. Also rode the plane next to him once. Man is ... big. lol

Hi Chris, what do you think of the likelihood and Steeler interest in trading up for Downs or Styles? Need another Polamalu or Shazier. I think only possible if they drop to 11. They dont immediately jump out as "positions of need" but these are blue chip guys that our D is missing.

I think it's next to impossible to trade up for Styles. Great prospect and a high chance of being a superstar, but he's going top 5. And I just don't think they move heaven and earth for that.

Now Downs, could slip down to the bottom of the top 10 and maybe even outside of it. He's a great player and prospect, but teams feel weird sometimes about investing that high at safety. He'd still take a decent investment, but Downs is a player I think they should be comfortable with trading at least two third round picks to get.

Two three's for a #2?

I would not be shocked as such a trade. They could get two starters in the second round, which effectively could make three with the first round pick and still have one third round pick left.

If you could re draft a former Steeler (outside of QB) to help this years squad, who would it be?

This is always a fun question.

I'll go with Troy Polamalu. I know they could really use a free safety type and Troy played strong, but he would be an elite chess piece in the secondary who would be a nightmare to plan against in today's NFL.

ESPN says, regarding the draft, Steelers need to get younger on defense in a big way. Thoughts on how many defensive players they may take. Do you agree with their assessment?

Last one for today.

I do think the Steelers need some young defensive assets. I think this team uses between 8-10 of their picks while trading away the others to improve their draft positions.

Out of that, I wouldn't be shocked if half were on defense. Defensive tackle, safety, slot cornerback all being primary concerns in my book for this team. I think if they come out of the top 100 with a WR, guard, playmaker DB at slot or FS and a nose tackle and they've accomplished big things for this draft.
Alright everyone! Thanks for joining the chat! Be on the lookout for our draft work as we continue to prep for Thursday!
