He also lost to Oregon, UCLA (first team to do so) and Northwestern while only beating cupcakes.

While his injury was unfortunate, that year was already going downhill. He can certainly rebound in the NFL.

Any significance with Rodgers showing up with the rookies are in the house?

I do think there could be something here.

Rodgers showed up last season when mandatory minicamp began and he only watched. He didn't throw a ball to a Steelers receiver in an actual practice until training camp.

If he's there now, I'd imagine that'll happen now in OTAs and/or minicamp as well.

And the timing being different this year does make me wonder if they're asking him to help Allar along in his process. They've played this very close the vest though, so nothing concrete on the reasoning.

Can the Steelers get a couple #1 picks from NE for Tomlin?   They need damage control and someone to stabilize the organization.

This would be something to watch if the Patriots wanted to move on from Mike Vrabel.

I've thought Vrabel was a very good coach for years and have a lot of respect what he did for the Titans. But the optics of what's come out in his personal life could very much get in the way of his work now and that could lead to some difficult decisions for himself.

Do the Patriots want to go through with that? I imagine they're not rushing him out the door, but that with every new TMZ video, it's not helping their situation.

Vrabel just had a team in the Super Bowl and isn't going to get chased out right now. But if this continues to blow up, maybe he steps down and the Patriots get desperate enough to want Tomlin.

If Tomlin's on the market, I do think at least one first round pick would be required. The Broncos got Sean Payton off the Saints for a 1st and 2nd round pick. I imagine Tomlin would drive a similar price, and maybe even more considering how desperate the Patriots could be in such a scenario.

Hi.  Just looked up Tom Brady's rushing stats -- 3.4 yards per game average.  Maybe I shouldn't worry about Aaron being a statue?

Hello!

I personally believe Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are the two best processors of the field in my time studying and watching the game (who've played during that era.)

While lack of mobility can be an issue, quarterbacks with their football IQs can make up for it and we saw Aaron Rodgers do that a lot last year.

It's still an issue, as a lack of protection can still kill a play even faster. But it can also make for a better QB situation than a mobile QB who doesn't see the field as well.

Buffalo is being critized for not building an all weather stadium, risking playoff games in Jan.  Will the NFL ever move playoff games to warmer or domed stadiums to ensure that the better team actually wins
Christopher Carter

I don't think that will ever happen. Would rob NFL teams of a lot of revenue for hosting playoff games and I think there's too much importance in fighting for homefield advantage to get rid of that.

While it would be great to get a draft pick should Tomlin decide to coach again, Gerry cited sources reporting he is no interested in coaching anymore. Do you see him being the next Cowher?
Christopher Carter
11:59
I agree with Gerry's sourcing in that I think Tomlin's done there and he's more likely to go the Cowher route.

But I also heard that Tomlin had said multiple times he NEVER wanted to do media, and now look what a nice paycheck might do to change someone's mind.

It's possible Tomlin gets the competitive itch and says he wants another go at coaching after a year or two. But the man's destined for the hall of fame already, and can just talk about football and make a decent pay without anyone calling out his intelligence because they don't like his coaching or standing outside his home urging him to quit. That might be the life he prefers.

How long does it take you to go through film for your analysis articles? I imagine that is pretty time heavy - love them, by the way. By far you are the most informative of all the great PG sports reporters. Thanks!

Thanks!

I spend days going through players when I get the chance to take a full process. I first look up their stats and gather what games I want to look up the most, then go and grab the all-22 where I can of those games.

Then I break those down, create the clips and rethink over them to confirm my analysis. Once that's done, I put them into our gif format process and start writing.
Alright I've got time for one more question. Hmmmm.

We visited the Hall of Honor inside the stadium last season for our annual trip to a game in the Burgh. The film highlight super years and super stars was awesome. I believe all new to playing for us should be required to watch the film regardless if a rookie or a seasoned veteran. It gives the frame of mind of Steeler Nation. Your thoughts? Congrats to you and your peers on keeping on with the good stuff for your fans!

Thanks!

And I do think there should be something in the way of understanding the tradition of the organization. But I wouldn't be shocked if there's a day for this already. Personally, I've always valued classic traditions and think it can be a big part of building and maintaining culture.

It's kind of wild to still hear T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith do the "who ride? we ride!" that Joey Porter Sr. started more than 20 years ago. Stuff like that is cool and I think there are lessons to be learned from how past teams succeeded.

Thanks everyone for stopping through! Sorry I couldn't get to more questions but I'll be back next week with another chat!

Be on the lookout tomorrow for our reporting from Steelers rookie camp!
