Need to see JPJ step up at CB, a WR2 to develop, the OL to coallesce, and the DL to be sharper against the run, for starters.

Chris, will Aaron Rodgers demand Ivermectin and ayahuasca in the training room and a studio setup to call Pat McAfee and Joe Rogan every day?

With Rodgers and potentially a number 2 WR. i honestly think the Steelers can be very competitive. Am i being to optimistic?

I think they can be. They beat four playoff teams last year and if the OL/DL are better, I could see them doing something like that or taking a step up.

Great job on recently joining the chats Chris, welcome. I’ve been recently pondering some offensive concerns. Last year Russell Wilson made audibles and called plays during the Cincy game in which the Steelers won 44-38. Afterwards, Arthur Smith took play calling away from Russell Wilson and implemented a more conservative ground and pound approach which was not as effective. The offensive line is currently dealing with injured players coming back and some position moves that are currently taking place. With that said, how will Arthur Smith handle Aaron Rogers making audibles and play-calls? Will this line be able to better protect Aaron Rogers? Will they be able to run the ball more effectively this year?

Thanks Jay!

Remember, that adjustment came after the Chiefs game when he threw that interception in the end zone. So it wasn't just after the Bengals game when there was success.

I think they did that as a way to protect the offense from Wilson making costly mistakes, as his turnovers against the Ravens and Chiefs proved very costly.

Aaron Rodgers will most likely be given a longer leash as a 4x MVP. But I do think running the ball will still be a priority. Whether or not it will be successful will fall on the O-line's shoulders.

Chris, while I don’t want the Steelers to tank, I also wouldn’t mind if they stand pat and go with the current roster. The amount of draft capital next year is impressive and trading away some of that capital today could hurt us tomorrow. Great work Chris!

Thanks! And I agree on keeping draft capital. It's why I think if they are going to add a WR, just sign a free agent.

Continued offensive concerns… If the offensive line has issues again in addition to player personnel, do we need to also start looking at Pat Meyer more closely, now that he is entering his 4th year as the offensive line coach as being part of the problem? Everyone seems to love Mike Munchak and would love to have him back. Was there an issue with him that we are unaware of as to why MT and or the Steelers Front Office has not reached out to bring him back? I’d like to know your views on this. Thank you.

I agree Meyer needs to show progress in the OL. But I remind people that it takes time for that group. Munchak inherited Pouncey in year five, DeCastro in year 3, Gilbert in year 4 and all of them having more chemistry than ever before. That's 2 all-pros and a stud along with good role guys like Foster/Beachum/Villanueva.

Meyer's been working with later picks, and then earlier picks in their first years. Let's see how those younger players develop this season before deeming his coaching ineffective.

As for Munchak, I think he might just be done with coaching over a unit. He moved closer to family when he went to Denver, and he stopped coaching in 2022 then returned as a consultant in 2023.
11:42
So, I think Munchak not being back is more about him moving on with his life than the Steelers telling him to leave.
That's all for today! Getting the hook from my editors to get back to other things. Thank you for all the questions! Look forward to doing this again next week during OTAs!
