Chris what do you think about the Jaylen Warren new contract i think it was a good contract and i think he will have a Good Season also who will score our first touchdown im thinking Either Jaylen or DK
Christopher Carter
11:23
It sure looks like a good deal for both sides. Warren makes millions after being undrafted and fighting his way into the NFL and the Steelers get a solid vet for years.

I think I remember you saying you had a law degree at some point.  Jalen Carter's act last night was assault wasn't it?  I do that in the grocery store to someone I get arrested on the spot right?
Christopher Carter
11:24
Yes that is assault pretty much universally. Might get treated differently being it's an NFL game but if Dak Prescott wanted to press charges he would be within his rights to do so.

What is the worst case scenario for the Steelers in the 2025 season?
Christopher Carter
11:25
There could be several. TJ Watt or Jalen Ramsey goes down for extended time, or Aaron Rodgers/Mason Rudolph go down like 2019 and the O-line doesn't improve, all could be disasters.

I think a legit basement for this team is 7-10 but I still think this team is closer to 11 wins than it is to 7

I think Cam has seriously hurt his reputation with this nonsense. He just signed last year. I think the Steelers need to stand firm, and if he doesn't want to play, get rid of him.  Everyone is replaceable, everyone.  Thoughts?
Christopher Carter
11:27
Eh, take Heyward off this defensive line and this defense becomes a completely different team. There are certain guys who aren't replaceable. And that's why he's made his play.

But as I've said before, from what I understand, he's not asking for major money here. He's asking for a small bump that won't greatly impact their salary cap and takes him from like the 22nd-highest paid DT to maybe like 17th or so.

If Barry Switzer was one of the "500" coaches who could have won a Super Bowl with the 1995 Cowboys  was Mike Tomlin one of the "500" coaches who could have won a Super Bowl with the 2008 Steelers?
Christopher Carter
11:30
I mean, Barry Switzer inherited one of the greatest teams of all time. As in, they won back-to-back Super Bowls when he got them. Mike Tomlin inherited an 8-8 team that many considered a fluke with the way they barely made the playoffs and went on a Cinderella run through the playoffs in their 2005 Super Bowl win.

As good as the 2008 Steelers were, and part of that was because of some key additions after Tomlin joined like Woodley, they aren't in the "best of the decade" conversation like those Cowboys were.

Good morning Chris! In your opinion, have the new kickoff rules become too gimmicky? If it’s about player safety, why have it at all? A rare return of any significance anyway.
Christopher Carter
11:31
Good morning!

The new rules honestly just make me disinterested in kickoffs in general. I do think they should keep it for tradition, but all the changes have become a lot.

11:31
Good Morning Chris! So, is this game against the Jets a trap game, or can we expect my guys to handle their business?
Christopher Carter
11:32
Good morning!

I wouldn't call the Jets a trap game because week one is so up in the air and the Steelers still haven't even shown who they can be with this group. If the Steelers were coming off an AFC championship appearance with this same crew, maybe I'd put it there.

Good morning Chris, did you see where Gronk said we're going to the super bowl this year? He also said we'd lose to the Pats because they always have our number. I would so love to see him eat crow on tv. Wouldn't it be great if we clobbered them and he had to do the highlights for that game?
Christopher Carter
11:33
That would be funny. Gronkowski is an interesting character for sure. But he's not wrong about the Patriots having their number. I wonder if they'll jam the Steelers' coaching staff's radio headsets again like they've done each time they've gone to that stadium?

Hey Chris...  I keep thinking if DK Metcalf goes down, the Steelers will be in bad shape.  A realistic trade package would be for the Steelers to acquire Jakobi Meyers as their WR2 is trading a 4th-round pick.  The Steelers will get a proven WR2 without sacrificing premium draft capital.  The Raiders can clear an $11M cap hit while building toward the future.  It would be a win-win for both sides.  Your thoughts?
Christopher Carter
11:34
I think this is the biggest worry about the WR2 situation. I actually think they're fine with the group they have if he's healthy. But if he goes down, then it's a problem.

Thing is, I don't know if Meyers changes THAT part of the equation either. He's not a major WR1 in my eyes. Also, any picks I'm trading will come from 2027, not 2026.

In your most recent article attempting to rank the college QBs, you didn't do a very good job with it. Mateer is better than Allar and you left out Carson Beck. Allar is a top t10 prospect, but he's closer to 10 than he is to 5. LaNorris Sellers is my guy to go #1 or #2 in the draft depending on the team drafting. What will the Steelers need to give up to get in the top 5 or will they use less draft capital to move up a few picks to get Allar at 15 or 20?
Christopher Carter
11:37
I don't believe in Carson Beck. We've seen that song and dance. I also don't believe in Drew Allar, but I pay respect to the fact that he's also one of the more developed guys on the list. If Mateer's going to pass Allar, he needs to do it against top tier competition and not just San Jose State and Portland State.
11:38
As for Sellers, he's been my top pick for who the Steelers SHOULD get. The rankings were more based off what I've read from other people who're closer on-hand with each of the prospects and compared with my own notes.

I see a low scoring game on Sunday.  Something like 16-9 or 17-10.  Both offenses will be stuck in the mud so to speak and the defenses/special teams will be the catalyst to the team winning.  I say Steelers win 16-10. One TD AR to DK and three FGs by Boz.
Christopher Carter
11:38
I'm thinking more 26-13 but with lots of field goals.

Hi Chris, do you have any positive things to say about Bell apparently resuming his boxing career?  Thanks.
Christopher Carter
11:40
I did think it was interesting Jake Paul didn't take up Le'Veon Bell's offer to fight some years ago when he was willing to fight ANYONE that wasn't already a pro boxer.

I don't know much about where Bell is an athlete these days. But boxing is one of my favorite sports to watch, so I'll be interested.

Hi Chris... no question.  Thanks for your insightful responses.

Thanks Paul!

Love your chats Chris!  How many games do you think the Steelers would need to win for Rodgers to consider playing another year?  Thanks.
Christopher Carter
11:40
Thanks Debbie! I think it's less about total wins and more about placement. If they make the AFC championship game and fall just short of the Super Bowl, I think that's the only way he's back.

Hi Chris.  May be coming to Pittsburgh for a game.  Can you recommend a good restaurant in the South Hills?  Thanks.
Christopher Carter
11:42
I'm not a big South hills guy. I'm big on the east end. But go to Mike's Beer Bar for their steak on a stone in the North Shore, William Penn Tavern in Lawrenceville for the best wings, and the Warren for great sushi/downtown vibes.

Media is restricted in what they can report from practices.  In the P-G predictions article today, Roman Wilson came up more than once as a breakout player.  Is that an indicrect indication that he's practicing well and showing why he was drafted when he was?
Christopher Carter
11:42
Mark, I think you're onto something there.

GM Chris - as always thank you for you and everyone for these chats - I believe with the current regime we will never get back to the 'steeler way' of the past. Develop via draft, stop the run, be able to run and win play off games\superbowls. Be that team no one wants to play. It has been rinse and repeat for too long now. The Baltimore game was more rock bottom than people realize . Now all we have is hope in that all the free agents pay off. Cam, TJ and this one helment nonsense also has to stop. I remember seeing Franco in a seahawks jersey and it hurt the first time, same with woodson, harrison and so on. Time, as always healed those wounds and still have my harrison jersey. Seems MT forgot his own ism "want voltuners...Love the steelers and will be rooting as always but until the proper people realize the infinite loop we are in and make the changes necessary to get back to the authentice steeler way, rinse and repeat.

11:46
Good morning! Thanks for being here!

I don't know man, Cam Heyward and TJ Watt are still high-level players and a big part of developing via the draft and stopping the run. They've been a top 10 unit against the run in 2 of the last 3 years. Sure, the Ravens and Eagles had their way late last season, but they were literally the top two rushing teams in the NFL. Even the 70s Steelers got bulldozed sometimes (remember OJ Simpson 1975).

I think the biggest thing is they need these OL/DL picks to work out and develop. They do that, this team will look a lot better.

Hi Chris great chat as always. I've seen some QB draft analysis put Mendoza as a good choice for Steelers but he is in various positions on most top 10 lists. Thoughts?
Christopher Carter
11:47
Hi Tim!

I like Mendoza's potential but I gotta see more. Didn't like his week one showing.

Hey Chris.  I’ve been hearing more and more teams may be interested in drafting a quarterback next year.  Do you think the Steelers will have enough draft capital to move up to take Sellers or another highly touted quarterback?  Keep up the great work.
