CC, as a trained barrister, I'm surprised that you have not yet added an annoying disclaimer or limitations language to the end of your chat?
Christopher Carter

I do not miss boilerplate language. LOL. That's all I'll say haha

Good morning Chris. I'll ask, with this years team being still in development, why do people express the need to trade or aquire other players almost every week?  To me, it seems it take awhile for a player to fit in to the teams system. Can you enlighten me some?
Christopher Carter

Eh, fans are going to fan. That's why we try to bring the grounded stuff here with our work so you don't have to put too much weight into those conversations. Trades are fine to consider but they do have to be the right fit on several fronts.

CC 1/4 of the season done.  Your assessment...does this team make the playoff and, if so win at least on post-season game?
Christopher Carter

I had this team making the wildcard as the 5-seed going into the season and I still think they either do that or win the division. Whether they win a playoff game will depend on their health and the matchup.

Is Rodger's the Steelers MVP thru the first four weeks?
Christopher Carter
11:46
That's tough. I kinda think it's T.J. Watt when you look at all he's opening up for his teammates on film. But Aaron Rodgers has brought a steadiness to the offense that hasn't been there. They certainly don't beat the Jets without him. But maybe they'd have found a way to squeeze out the Patriots/Vikings games with Mason Rudolph ... maybe.

To me, it's between those two.

Hey Chris- Happy Friday!  How do the Steelers take Herbig off the field when Highsmith is healthy?  That being said is Highsmith a trade candidate and what would the return be for him?
Christopher Carter
11:49
I think they rotate them as a trio. They only ever had them healthy as a trio for 3.5 games last year and I really think that could be something special if they're all together down the stretch of the season.

As for trading Highsmith, absolutely not. Pass rush is still the primary pillar of what can make this team competitive against the best teams and you need to be prepared for this long 13-week stretch of no bye weeks to absorby your games when at least one of them has to sit out. This is good depth to have. Don't trade it away.

Chris what do you think about the play of Nick Herbig i think he has looked good since highsmith has been injured
Christopher Carter
11:51
Herbig's really stepped up. His pass rush moves are sharper, he's playing the run better and anticipating plays more consistently. There was a screen pass he sniffed out that I thought was a great show of his progress. Still think Highsmith is the starter, but Herbig is ready to be in the regular rotation. If they can force more 3rd and longs, imagine the three of them at the same time.

You’ve been the best addition to these chats. If someone is pressuring you to “wrap them up” more quickly, it’s probably a union mentality that they think you’re making the others look bad. Who cares? Keep doing what you’re doing!

*Nervous laughter.* ... hehehe ... not so loud. My editor literally just texted me a gif of the "Wrap It Up" box from the Chappelle show.

This service does have a limited amount of time and others need to use it for their chats so I get it.

But with that, I do have to call it for today. Thanks to everyone for joining! I'll have a film study coming out this weekend!
