Heh. The things I notice would be rudimentary to NFL coaches. But thank you! I try my best to simplify things down in my explanations of plays, concepts and techniques to paint a picture of what's going on for fans to better understand what's a very complex game. I think I'd make a decent high school coach, but not much more than that.

As for players, they're relentlessly looking at film. Just yesterday right after practice, I stormed into the locker room to get players because I knew they had their position group meetings where they'd go over film. I got 95 seconds with Keeanu Benton and that was it. Everyone else bolted. Most players are putting in the study work, even when we don't see it.

Love your work and insights, Chris.  I said 5 years ago Steelers will never win another playoff game with the current HC.  Why is he still here? They will draft a QB next year and it will be wasted. Tomlin is not capable of developing talent.

Thanks!

I think he's still here because he hasn't let the team fall apart and he does a lot that gets them to overperform. Some of these past rosters, especially in 2021, 2022, 2023, probably should've bottomed out. But they didn't, and that's been part of their development of guys and finding answers in hard places.

But to say Tomlin isn't capable of developing talent, that's way over the line. Just now we're seeing the OL develop. But we shouldn't forget that the Pouncey-DeCastro O-line were Colbert picks that Tomlin developed well into a strong unit. Not to mention the several other stars and good role players over the years.

Do they need to eventually get over the playoff hump? Absolutely. But I think if anything has kept Tomlin around, it's how he's developed talent in several different positions.

Good Morning Chris,What's the real reason Beanie Bishop was realeased? He was promising up and comer. Will they be bringing him back to the practice squad? Have they brought Asante Samuels to see if he can at least bring some depth? Thanks for your insight in advance.

Beanie is a feisty slot, but the team has multiple better options there right now. I think he's on a short list to call when they want a player like that back. But it's tough to find a place for him in the current CB room, especially with Ramsey and Echols rotating at slot.

I think the Steelers have at least checked in on Samuels but he'll pick where he wants to go. I do think he'd be good to bring in. But I imagine he wants the best situation; which means starting for sure, and decent money on a competitive team.

Do think the Steelers could check all those boxes though.
