I've been a Pirate fan for over 75 years and have never been upset about their play as this year. I really believe  that Kelly has been the reason for what I think is another lost season. I go to bed at night unable to fall asleep thinking about the lost  opportunities! I don't have many yeas left, but I'd like to see the Pirates be a contender.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong about the manager. No manager is perfect, etc etc. But I'll spin it this way -- isn't it nice that this is a team worth being frustrated over? Little the Pirates did at this point of the season last year mattered. This year, they've got intriguing young talent and a real chance (23.9%, per FanGraphs) at the playoffs.

They do some maddening stuff. 20 blown saves will do that to you. But this isn't yet a lost season.

The Pirates have problems, both before and after the trade deadline. I don't know whether they did enough to address them. But this is, at minimum, an interesting team.

We'll see how it all works out — and this year, it is a team worth watching.
