All right folks -- this is going to be a lot of fun. I'll post some takes throughout the night -- and you can ask questions as well!
6:28
I've got my eye on Boston tonight. Boston College has really punched Notre Dame in the mouth -- leading 9-0 later in the game in the series opener. Ramon Jimenez with a big HR in the game for the Eagles. Intrigued to see how the Fighting Irish respond to a game like this tomorrow.
6:30
Speaking of responses -- how about Old Dominion in game two against Charlotte? The Monarchs scored three runs in the first and four in the fourth -- and lead the 49ers 7-0 in the 7th inning. RHP Hunter Gregory is a really, really nice pitcher -- threw five shutout frames as well.

Which non-existent baseball program would be best and why is it SMU?
Kendall Rogers
6:31
Give me SMU or North Texas. SMU would be the easy pick because of its location in the heart of Dallas -- but North Texas is a huge public school in a solid baseball conference. I might give the edge to the public school. Of course, SMU could institute some Vandy-like aid to kick-start the baseball program. Let's make it happen!

Kendall does Pitt/Louisville not being played this weekend hurt each team? I know listening to the nerd cast this week you were high on Pitt but does this likely end their regional host shot?
Kendall Rogers
6:33
PA -- It certainly doesn't help Pitt's hosting chances. Had Pitt gone on the road and taken the U of L series, I would feel pretty good about its hosting chances moving forward. As for UL, the Cardinals still have a rough RPI from a Top 16 standpoint. Do I think the Cards are in good shape for a host right now? You bet. National seed? They needed those games this weekend.
Chris
6:34
Who needs to worry more about these 8 games in a row in terms of post-season implications? Charlotte or ODU?
Kendall Rogers
6:34
Probably Charlotte. It actually put in a bid to host -- and I'm hearing at the moment that ODU did not put in a bid to host, which, frankly, surprises the hell out of me.

How big a threat is Miami as a 2-seed somewhere in the South? Can the flip the switch or are they who they are at this point? A streaky hitting team with too many question marks on the staff?
Kendall Rogers
6:36
Miami could definitely be dangerous in a regional. Sure, the Hurricanes are inconsistent at times -- but they've also looked terrific at times on the weekend. I wouldn't want those guys -- and to a more extent -- Florida, in my regional.
Kendall Rogers
6:37
Watching South Carolina-Arkansas. Boy, RHP Will Sanders has filthy stuff and big velocity for the Gamecocks, but the Hogs are not fooled at all right now. Hogs have two runs in -- and they hit him pretty hard in a scoreless first inning, too. I would not advice trying to play catchup with that Arkansas offense.

Will Fairfield be a 2 seed if they win out the regular season and conference tournament?
Kendall Rogers
6:42
Guest -- I think Fairfield will be a three seed somewhere at this point. I think they've earned the right not to be a No. 4 seed -- but No. 3 seed seems appropriate right now.

Southern Miss chance to host?
Kendall Rogers
6:46
USM certainly has a chance to host with an RPI of 13. But it will need to avoid slipups the next few weeks against WKU -- Rice -- MTSU. Zero margin for error, and I also think location will be a factor with MSU, Ole Miss and La Tech all likely hosting at this point.

How big is this weekend for the Trojans in Tuscon? If they finish in the top half of the pac-12 do they make a regional?
Kendall Rogers
6:47
USC has a respectable overall record and the league mark isn't terrible -- but the RPI is an issue at 104. Taking a series from Arizona would certainly solve SOME of the RPI issues, but not all. Long way to go for the Trojans.

Feels like the Big Ten is coming down to Michigan and Nebraska. Playing a conference only schedule, might the easiest solution for the committee be to give the winner a host spot even if the RPI is low for a host? Would help if the winner also wins the series between the two in Lincoln.
Kendall Rogers
6:48
Ethan -- I would like to see the conference leader come May 10 get a host site out of the Big Ten. If I was a betting man right now, I'd say Michigan has a solid shot to host -- but we will see what happens. RPI is an issue for those teams right now.

Also on the Pitt front, if somehow Pitt would win out and get a host someway would they have to find a minor league park to play in? Charles L Cost isn’t the biggest host spot and one that needs upgrades with the improvement in play to help the kids get more exposure and following. Wish this weekend would have happened would have loved to see how Meyers and Gilbertson handled the cards lineup
Kendall Rogers
6:49
My understanding is that not only did Pitt bid to host -- but it bid to host at home at its home ballpark. So, there's that.

Any possibility the pac 12 gets 7 bids this year ?
Kendall Rogers
7:01
I think you will see the Pac 12 with five or six bids -- more than likely six right now.

Arkansas has gotten another solid start from LHP Patrick Wicklander. Mixing his pitches well and has thrown four shutout frames to start the night. Arkansas is up 2-0. Hogs' rotation is certainly an absolute circus at times -- but Pallette and now Wicklander with quality starts tonight.

The Gamecocks have the second best ERA in the SEC, but also the 3rd worst AVG.  The bats go to sleep on Fridays and wake up Saturday around the 7th inning usually.  What's a realistic ceiling for this team if that continues to be the case, and do you consider moving Farr out of the Friday role to fix it?  Also, where would you rank Sanders in terms of Sunday starters in the SEC?
Kendall Rogers
7:15
I think South Carolina has some quality hitters, but I certainly saw them struggle offensively on the road against Texas. WTS -- I think you stick with Thomas Farr. I like his FB/SL combo and I think he'll finish strong. Brannon Jordan's velocity was a little better today than it was when I saw him, and the CB is a quality pitch. And I'm currently pretty impressed with Will Sanders' moxie on the. mound right now. Color me impressed with this rotation. It could be Omaha caliber ... Well, as I say that, Cayden Wallace hits a two-run bomb to make it 4-1, Hogs.
Kendall Rogers
7:29
Continue to be really impressed with the job the Nebraskas coaching staff is doing this season. Cade Povich tossed seven shutout innings in a 4-0 win over Michigan State. I still think Nebraska is going to end up being behind Michigan in the hosting pecking order, but Huskers certainly making a very solid case.
Matt Ayres
7:33
Did you expect Greg Lovelady to have turned UCF into a bigger program at this point? I thought they would be a perennial T25 team with his hire.
Kendall Rogers
7:33
I think Lovelady is a really good coach, so this year's struggles, especially after that Ole Miss series win, is pretty surprising to say the least. I think this season is kind of an aberration for the Knights, but we'll see what happens moving forward.

Are FSU and GT playing for their tournament lives this weekend?
Kendall Rogers
7:35
Nah. FSU certainly doesn't have a great RPI, but if it finishes the season halfway decent and the conference record stays above .500, I feel pretty confident with the Seminoles making the tournament field. Same with the Yellow Jackets.
Kendall Rogers
7:39
Two intriguing games for me tonight -- Boston College beating Notre Dame 10-0. The Fighting Irish have been so inconsistent this season, but man, the Eagles finally showing flashes of the team we thought they'd be coming into the season. Also, in Lubbock, Baylor is leading Texas Tech, 7-1.

How much of a travesty is it that we aren't getting an Arkansas-Vanderbilt series this year? Or do you think we will get one in Omaha?
Kendall Rogers
8:16
Stephen - It definitely stinks -- but just means we'll have to demand it in the postseason :)

Hi Kendall: Long time, first time. Who does Michigan closer Willie Weiss remind you of (his fastball/ slider mix - not his amazing mullet)?
Kendall Rogers
8:17
Not sure about a comp off the top of my head, but it's good to see him back and healthy. Our Patrick Ebert saw him up to 95 mph earlier today against Rutgers. He's such a weapon ... what a terrific pull out of the State of Oregon.

Not the showing from monteverde texas tech was wanting
Kendall Rogers
8:17
Charlee -- I love Patrick Monteverde. He's typically Mr. Precision on the mound. But he doesn't have blow-away, excellent stuff, so his margin for error is very small. The rotation for Tech scares me going into the postseason.
